You can sign up with a franchise lately by contacting them via their website (like The UPS Store or PostNet), but I wouldn't recommend it. My folks had a franchise store for ten years, and they manage to make a profit during 3 years (in the middle of the ten years). You own to pay fees (outrageous fees) to the franchise that you move about through (at the time we paid 3% of our "profit" for franchise selling that didn't affect us & 1% of our "profit" for using their name), rent for the store space (plus the landlords will expect at least 2% of your "profit" as their bonus) plus other fees (like CAM fees), and you really can't charge much over actual costs because associates will and do complain...oh and how they complain and threaten to sue, because isn't that against the law (no, if it be there wouldn't be so several chains, right?).

Also, many franchises won't allow you to market "extra" merchandise for additional income, and you tend to enjoy to update the layout of your store every 5 years, and that usually runs about $10,000 - $15,000 at least possible.

The only actual profit comes from mailbox rental...that's like 100% profit almost. In proclaim to really have that pay envelope off you really necessitate about 500-1000 mailboxes, and they aren't cheap.

If you've get the money and are just looking for something to pack up your time, go for it. If you're looking at making money, I'd utter look at opening a different type of business.

Well either you could own them made at a printing shop or, if you want to do them yourself, I would invest in a solid-ink printer such as the Xerox Phaser 8400. They are reasonably expensive though.
It uses coloured wax instead of ink, which gives a sort of raise feel, not exactly embossed though.

If you don't want to seize one new, consequently see if you can find a second hand elder model, which is what I did.

It's not the INK that's raised on business cards. The process used is call "thermography". Thermographic powder is applied to wet ink, which is next heated. The powder then melt to give you that "raised" have a feeling. You're actually seeing the ink through the raise (melted) thermographic powder. There isn't any way to do this at home, but a local printer can do it at possible cost.

- increasing competition (it is not as easy to provide now on eBay compared to others)

I would utter it depends on what you want with your business. If you enjoy a steady supply of product to sell (not a short time ago based on what you can find contained by your attic), I would go create a website - and THEN use eBay as an more sales tube. You just enjoy more room to operate and grow your business with have your own store.

I'm going through a similar process of looking into starting a business. Your area small business supervision office is the place to start for developing a business plan, budgeting, etc., and you can articulate to a real being too if that's what you need.
