Small Business Question and Answers

accessible a small business or uncap a franchise?

Question:frachise as in McDonalds, Burger King etc...

Answers:
Franchises are outstandingly expensive to get into and beside all the rules you are essentially buying yourself an 80 hour/week opening. I suppose they have their benefits but the ones I looked into required you to be near all sunshine every day for different specified times. I established against it and went near a small business, which still requires a lot of hours and dedication, but I still hold the freedom to go away for a week if I so desire and the business won't nose-dive apart without me. I guess you own to decide how meaningful your time is to you. Some people don't mind dedicate themselves to being at the store/restaurant adjectives day every light of day, but that isn't for me.
Also, the income I earn is residual so missing a few days won't hurt at all, surrounded by fact the business continues to build itself and the earn potential is even higher than a franchise.
My initial investment be $35 plus a case of product and my business is growing at an incredible rate.
You of late have to weigh the pros and cons.

Other Answers:
If you friendly a franchise you have to use their food and follow their rules. Open your own and you can do what you want.

franchise

me I think you should enlarge a small business.

I reckon that you would have to stretch out a small business first and see if it does well. Then I don`t know someday you can turn it into a franchise.

depends on financial situation. Franchises are very expensive. A small business can be too depending on what type of business you start.

If I remember the startup capita for a McD's is 1.5 or 1.7 million just for the franchising rights, but the average gross income for a McD's owner is 200K/year (depending on whether you're contained by center city Manhattan or countrytown USA.) So you'll make the initial investment backbone in 5 to 6 years. And I cogitate out of all the McD's out in attendance...only one or two own failed.

Burger King, haven't a clue. I simply know McD's because I use them as a franchising model conceptualization for business presentations.

http://www.best-automatic-wealth.com From the article "Three Roads to Business Ownership" http://www.powerhomebiz.com/vol18/ownership.htm here are the pros and cons of starting a business vis-a-vis introductory a franchise

1. Starting Your Own Business.

Starting an independent business of your own offers several advantages. You are free from contractual obligation required from franchisees, and from any precedents established by the previous business owner. You are able to start on a fresh, verbs slate with total control on how the business is shaped and manage. You are free to offer a pioneering and proprietary product that could give a hand you dominate your market. You can start near a bang, or at a slower stride, depending on your resources and entrepreneurial goals. There is no required upfront investment that you must put on a pedestal; except for the level that you conjecture your business requires to be successfully launched. You can choose the location you want, determine the products and service that you flea market, and decide whether you obligation employees or not.

The downside of starting a business from scrape could also be numerous. A new business entail greater risk than buying an established business or franchise. You need to determine whether a stipulation exists for your products or service; and if it does, work to create awareness and branding. The start-up process also necessitates you to do the groundwork process by yourself - from business license and permits, establishing relations next to suppliers, and establishing a customer base to support operation. Many new start-up businesses, remarkably home businesses, find it hard to support financing given the lack of operating histories and inexperience of the ethnic group involved.

A new business will require a longer term of time to show profits, if at all. Entrepreneurs who wish on venturing on their own must be ready to dedicate considerable time and dash to establishing and nurturing the business.

2. Franchising.

Franchising incorporates the features of both a start-up and an existing operation. The franchise is the right to sell a product or service. When you purchase a franchise you are necessarily paying for the right to market an already established product or service owned by somebody else (the franchisor). Under your franchise agreement, you (the franchisee) are expected to flea market the product/service successfully.

This alternative route to business ownership has some distinct advantages. Risk is minimized, since a ingrained franchise has a proven business method next to established products or services. Franchises like McDonald's already have well-known christen that could easily bring customers to the business and provide a competitive supremacy for the franchisee.

Many franchise organizations also provide extensive assistance surrounded by terms of marketing, media hype, even managerial support. Oftentimes, supervision training and follow-up assistance are provided. In many instances, In optional extra, you can realize cost savings on inventory items, supplies and equipment due to bulk purchase instructions made by the franchisor, which in turn is passed on to franchisees. Some franchisors also assist the franchisee surrounded by securing financing, while some provide the funding themselves. Franchisees find it easier to convince banks and other lenders to provide loans because franchises are smaller quantity risky than start-up businesses. Support can also be given in finding the right location, while some provide the layout, display, services and business techniques that enjoy already proven successful in previous operation.

Franchising could present problems to the business owner. At the onset, the soaring franchise fees required to be paid to the franchisor at the start of the franchise agreement may discourage any prospective business owners. Front fees can collection from a few thousand dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars, depending on the franchise. While some franchisors may require high initial fees, the trade-off may be poor support functions once the operation begin.

In incorporation to the upfront fees, royalty fees are also required on a monthly basis. The royalty fees are monthly payments base on a certain percentage of the franchisee's income or sale, varying between 1 and 20 percent. Note that you still need to wage royalty fees even if the business is not profitable. franchise nickname is "buy a job" where on earth you don't really make big money but it steady an hold some support
if you have a small biz you can do anything you want of course following the goverment's canon

i would similar to to unstop a consignment shop next to little one items?

Question:what is the best way to bring started all i own right now are the babe-in-arms items from my own 2 year old?

Answers:
Rent out a shop & buy stuff from populace at 25-30% of what you plan to sell it for.

Other Answers:
Go for it! Look at similar stores and jump from there.
You should start by getting a store. Then use what you enjoy to get money. Maybe ask society if they can give you free child items.
Put an ad out to that you collect old-fashioned baby's clothes.
Ask friends, family, co-workers, etc if they own anything they could give you
put a add on in the word paper will pick up any antediluvian clothing.
or if you get to the emancipation army involved saying they will return with a % of the profit they will have a drop sour at your place. see ppl get a charge break when they donate there ancient stuff.
You're going to need to work your top three core competencies. You'll choose these, but I don`t know they're something like: a reliable supply of products, a good location, and market-savvy expenses. Consignment shops aren't going to variety you rich, they'll buy you a living.

From the real estate segment of your business, you're going to want to spend some real time researching the open market. A good commercial agent will return with you market information, traffic studies, comparative lease rates, etc. You'll credible want to be in a strip shopping precinct somewhere, and you've got to know who have access to your shop.

You can get comparative flea market data from zapdata.com (a free service by Dun & Bradstreet). That'll procure you an idea of revenue potential and averages. You can find salary information at pay.com. You can get lease rates from your local commercial concrete estate agent. You can get clothes prices from competing stores, as resourcefully as shop concepts.

A good book to use for setting up a retail business is Why We Buy by some extraordinary guy. He has a consulting firm that studies shopping customs of people and he'll enjoy some insight about what's going to create things successful for you.

Also, I'd work strongly with a apposite POS system. Microsoft's got Retail Management Solutions, which will transport you all the route if you want to spend that kind of brass. The reason I'd invest surrounded by the information management is you've get to know what's selling, what's keeping you profitable, and how you're going to adjust your shop space, your consignment items, your advertising, etc. to return with product out the door.

One good piece you have going for you is eBay. You can save your shop people busy during slow parts of the morning moving goods and services online. I've see a lot of small shops run this course to some success.

If you would approaching some more information, I'm working in your industry and I'd be smiling to introduce you to some people or follow up accepted wisdom. My yahoo email is the same as my label in these forums.

How do you integer commission on a Dutch auction if the price is 25.95 and the stores commission is 40%?

Question:

Answers:
multiply 25.95 X .4
10.38

Other Answers:
The % times amount will = $
.4 x 25.95 = 10.38
25.95X.40=10.38
When you say price, I assume you are refering to the price you rewarded for the item, in which bag you can find the commission using the equation (assuming 25.95 is the price you see on the tag, not including tax)

Cost + 40% of Cost = Total price which is
1x + .4x = 25.95
1.4x = 25.95
x = 18.54 (cost)

commission = cost * 40%

18.54 * .4 = 7.41

So the commision is $7.41,

Cost + Commision = Total

18.54 + 7.41 = 25.95
25.95 X .40=10.38

HELP! i don't know what to do, guidance greatly appreciated?

Question:i don't now wether to get to collage or not, i just graduate high institution and i'm working part time, i enjoy alot of business ideas that i want to scheme out on and create my own business, however a masters in international business or managment sounds right, but i'm not the type to waist time or money on a degree that will make a contribution me a boring 9to5 job. the one and only reason i'd bring back my degree is for the deposit. i think i'd be happier next to my own business. what do you think i should do? thank-you so much for your answers :)

Answers:
OK, this have been the federal question of my vivacity, so here goes...

First, Peter Drucker's answer: keep on five years before college. Go and explore your interests, establish a work stencil, pay some prices surrounded by learning/doing what you think you want, after get a level when it will get you moving along faster.

That's a risky position, except surrounded by the end, the single bet you've really got is on yourself and your competence to create value.

That said, my dad didn't do the college item. He's found it very difficult to receive a living, even though he's about the best within is in the world next to what he does (process control through computers).

I have a right friend who is very successful who started his own business, made a nouns out of himself, then get his degree concurently surrounded by something unrelated that he was interested surrounded by (history, as it turns out). Business isn't that hard to integer out, and the college professors are just reading impossible to tell apart stuff you've got access to, in need bothering to try out the ideas surrounded by the real world.

That doesn't excuse you from doing your homework. You should be enormously good at reading financial reports, analyzing business background, running good statistical test, writing good reports and business communications yourself, deduce strategic and tactical business consequences for market forces and your own decision. You've got like mad to do, and there's no excuse for anyone with at tiniest a high arts school diploma who wants to do business to not receive very right at these fundamentals, regardless of their formal educational plans.

All that said, I've found my degree to be extremely helpful. They bring more credibility than the things I knowledgeable in academy. I earned my BS surrounded by Information Systems and and MBA from a highly-ranked business school. When I'm working a concord, putting together a business case, convincing someone to work my opening, I often throw those out to achieve a little more credibility to the conversation. Of course, if my philosophy don't have merit contained by themselves, I don't go markedly far.

Also, getting an education is a much more imporant energy decision than a short time ago what you'll learn or what compassionate of career and lifestyle you'll delight in. People that have ample self confidence to spend significant amounts of time and money to commit to their own education come across other high-quality population, learn to be unequivocal minded and truly educated contained by many areas outside of their direct paddock of interest. Often (and I don't know if you're a man or woman), women aren't interested in men that don't at lowest possible have a Bachelor's level. It's sometimes true for women as well. When you choose to seize a college degree, you're choosing to associate next to people that own a higher amount of discipline, self-respect, and commitment to life than the common population.

In the end, I get my degrees, use them everyday, but don't work a 9 to 5 career, and probably never will again.

Cheers

it's all around who u know buddy... whether u meet them at institution or at the bookstore or at the park... NETWORK.... that's the most important entity school doesn't educate you... find a mastermind group of inhabitants who share the same interests as you and you'll be on your bearing... just beware of selfish/greedy society...

good luck surrounded by your ventures... oh yeah, arts school is a waste of time... i enjoy an MBA in Business Administration and I am stuck within a 9 to 5... make wearing clothes money, but not my true potential... chase your dreams while u can....
College. Come on, what do you have to lose? Its not close to its college is full time. Get classes that fit into your schedule. Take business classes. The more you know, the easier it is. The wiser, the better. You can start a business while your within college. An online business and work your way up. College, conspicuously.
GO TO A COLLAGE AND GET ALL THE NORMAL CLASSES THERE LIKE LANGUAGE ARTS. THEN GO TO A COLLAGE THAT HAS CLASSES THAT YOU NEED FOR YOUR JOB THAT YOU WANT. DON'T DO YOUR OWN BUSINESS! MY DAD DID THAT AND MY PARENTS HAD TO DIVORCE BECAUSE OF THAT! THAT'S MY OPINION.
I would go to college for an enterperner government degree. That means of access you will have smarts to pay for up your business ideas, and not engineer the same mistakes that others own made. Plus it would give you time to develop your concept and business, and have professors feedback on them. And they can squad you up with some professionals who made their dreams into realness, and inspire you to do the same.

I am interested surrounded by starting my own business building custom PC's ....?

Question:So I am curious as to how many empire would be interested in have a computer built for them, and under what conditions would they consider have one built?

For example, a lot of ancestors want the latest and greatest but don't hold the cash to retribution retail. A custom PC would offer more smash for your buck in most cases.

Another example, some relations just want something amazingly basic, would a custome PC fit that niche of relations?

Thanks!

Answers:
The trick is to have great vendor. Dell for instance cuts massive deals beside board makers approaching ASUS. Buying bulk reduces their costs.

If you can establish this on a small level with wholesalers you will be capable of turn a decent profit lacking raping customers.

People in this country are terribly hooked on branding. Tech folks know that a Dell could be the exact same PC as a Gateway underneath the pretty case they build the components into. The warranty is the true control to buying with a bigger company.

If you can establish a first name for yourself locally as a guru and provide a good tech support for the products you build....afterwards there's no reason you can't be successful.

Other Answers:
i might

If you can sell more that costs smaller number, and provide reliability, people will be interested. some of the conditions they would consider would be price and conduct ratio(speed, maintenance aspect, probability of the PC breaking down, etc.). there are lot of cheap, but worthy quality, parts everywhere. in opposition, you should have a perfect supplier of parts that can sell it to you cheap.

nation who want to get the immensely basic PC's would fit surrounded by the custom PC industry. with the speedily pace of technology, they may not catch very deep PC's anymore.

You want to find a rapid bunch of fan who will spread the message about you PCs resembling a virus. Do some research on how alienware got started, run and sold out to Dell. I would think that gamers or audiophiles would be the best target. Or develop a whole unknown niche like PCs for tricked out cars.
