Taxes Questions and Answers

Why is the Stimulus Package refund/rebate simply for folks next to incomes below $75K?

I read today that the refunds/rebates will be given to individuals with income lower than $75K. What about the rest of family like those who are head of households with childlike kids who make...let's right to be heard $80K a year and live in a lofty cost of living area approaching...LA or SFran? Although $80K might sound close to a lot of money, when you're paying a mortgage, paying daycare and taking consideration of a family, it isn't. Anyone hold any thoughts/ideas?

Answers: Well I think they move about off of this years taxes to determine subsequent years. So if a person living contained by a high cost nouns with a huge mortgage, kids and so forth, nearby adjusted gross income would be much smaller quantity then that. The rebate will go bad of the taxes. But you have to preserve in mind that some empire got wager on more then they even payed contained by. I do not think that those population will get more free money. Alot of society have a problem near this. They think the on benefit need it the most, but what they are asking is for population like me, to grant more of my money, to the low income and unemployed. They focus we are rich and that we should. That is not the case, some couples work amazingly hard to earn what they own, and they do not have children. So when they folder, they pay within a big amount at the end of the year over what they payed all year long. Then the money they clear in go to other people who hold low incomes and a bunch of kids, that get put a bet on ten times what they pay contained by. Do you get my point?
I contemplate suzanne is right, single people, and associates that make over 60k should not enjoy to pay for the nation that have plentifully of kids, and support them!
I think it's undeserved they don't get a duty break also!

Tax Rebate Information?

I'm on Social Security Disability and have no earn income.
Because of the amout I get, I'm not required to record income taxes.

Will I still get the Tax rebate check? Or do I hold to file contained by order to return with it.

Thanks

Answers: You may get one..you don' t enjoy to apply for it.

Congress, facing the prospect of an election-year recession, passed an emergency plan Thursday that rushes rebates of $600 to $1,200 to most taxpayers and $300 checks to disabled veterans, the elderly and other low-income ethnic group. President Bush indicated he would sign the measure.

The legislation would deliver rebate -- $600 for individuals, $1,200 for couples -- to most taxpayers, plus an additional $300 per child. Individuals making up to $75,000 a year and couples earn up to $150,000 would get the full rebate, near those making more than that or too little to owe taxes getting smaller checks.

People who paid no income taxes but earn at least $3,000 -- including through Social Security or veterans' disability benefits -- would attain a $300 rebate.
The Senate added a provision to grant $300 payments to seniors, disabled veterans and veterans' widows who could show $3,000 within Social Security or veterans' disability benefits last year.

You do not hold to file to win the rebate.

My husbands Ex-Wife claimed the children we are legitimately supposed to claim... what are the consequences!?

My husbands Ex-wife had their two daughters taken from her contained by February of 2007 from Child Services. She can't keep a position and has a drug maltreat problem.

We filed our taxes closing weekend and it came backbone that both children had already be claimed.

We were told to dispatch in a tabloid return and that the IRS would contact us asking for proof of the children being within our custody... and if we could prove it they would award us our return and make his ex-wife compensate back what they have given her.

Has anyone had this occur!? It is extremely irritating. I want to know what the consequences are... and how hard be it to go through next to?

Answers: This happens adjectives the time.

Just do what the IRS has asked you to do. I believe if you do everything, it will be okay.

His ex-wife will own to repay the IRS.

Good luck.
If both children are under your permissible guardianship and you have be providing for over 50% of their needs for more than 6 months of 2007, you should walk ahead and claim them on your taxes. Just get your court directives and any additional permitted paperwork in charge to show proof if you are audited.

It might vary state to state, but it sounds close to she (the ex) is going to have to repay back any money she received for claiming the children or possibly be brought up on charges of export tax fraud by the IRS.
In response to Steph, no matter what it say in the divorce regulation, you have to enjoy the children living with you at lowest half of the year and/or provide more than partly of their support in writ to claim them. It doesn't sound as if the mother did any one.

However, yeah, now would be a great time to go back over those custody papers. At the very smallest it would enable the father and step mother to more well defend themselves contained by the future.
