I am PO'd about this "tax rebate" in 2001 we got a rebate. In 2002 had to pay in-the first time in 30 years!
Answers: While the rebate depends on your 2007 income, it is actually a rebate toward your 2008 taxes. According to the proposed plan, in 2008, taxes would be cut from 10 percent to zero percent on the first $6,000 dollars of taxable income for individual taxpayers.
It's like a one time tax cut for 2008, but you get the rebate now instead of waiting to file your 2008 taxes. Because this is an advance payment on your 2008 taxes, your refund next year could be more (or less!) depending on your 2008 income.
The 2001 rebate included a change to the withholding tables. The change bumped your refund by the amount of the rebate, so if you had to pay at tax time, you probably would have paid that year if there had been no change at all.
Overall, you paid less in taxes and this is usually a good thing.
If you are pissed off now, wait until the Democrates have their way. You will be paying more every year!!
My Employer withheld everything BUT Federal Income Tax. What are my responsibilities?
I worked at a restaurant for a few months. We received our tips in bread every night after they be recorded. I be told that taxes would be taken out from our hourly paychecks. I get my W-2, and the federal income taxes withheld box is blank. Soc. Sec. and Medicare be both withheld however. We received checks from the business, with print outs of hours worked, and the money withheld. I chock-full out a W-4, even requested to have supplementary money taken out each check. If my employer didn't withhold federal income tariff, what are my responsibilities?
Answers: The IRS really doesn't care that your employer withheld nothing, all they contemplation is that they get their money if you owe it.
BUT, if you chock-full out your W-4 AND requested extra withholding, they violated the law. Get a copy of your W-4 and have a word to payroll about why they did not follow your instructions.
Hope you don't owe too much.
You should ask your employer why they didn't withhold anything for your federal taxes. This is a valid cross-examine.
You have to wage your federal taxes. Do your tax return and see how much you owe.
Good luck.
you will be responsible for it, did you not distinguish all year that they did not rob federal taxes out, because you should have told them next to take it, or start in your favour money yourself because depending on your wages, you can end up owing lots very soon. If they did take it out of your checks and you own your pay stubs, afterwards I suggest you contact them, and if they say no we are correct consequently they stole your money and you should do something about it
Tax grill? did i mess up big time?
i forgot to file two w-2's for 2006 when i did my taxes ultimate year. i know one was because i newly couldn't get the w-2. i tried and tried and terminated up telling the levy guy i didn't have it and he said dont verbs about it. but i lately got a 1099G and i dont know what this, so i call H&R block and they said it was for unemployement, i collected within 2006, for like 3 weeks. which i also forgot to claim. i haven't file this year, but am i gonna get adjectives kinds of fees, i already know what my repayment is for this year, i just haven't file. please help!Answers: This may not be as big of a treaty as you think.
You stipulation to file an amended 1040 (1040X) for 2006.
If the IRS have not contacted you yet on 2006, you are fine for immediately. File your 2007 then report your amended 2006. If you end up owing for 2006 you will later have your '07 rates refund to foot it with.
People kind mistakes all the time, if you take in for questioning it before the IRS does, it go a long way and may even give support to you remove penalties (if at hand are even any assessed).
Eventually, the IRS will contact you about 2006. They also receive W2s and 1099s from employer.
This happens profusely. Just be prepared that down the road the IRS will probably send you a memo about this.
Good luck.
