Taxes Questions and Answers

Can I legally claim my girlfriend and her son on my taxes even though her ex husband pays support?

Answers: If they lived with you ALL year and you can prove you paid over half of each of their support, then you can probably claim them. If your relationship with your girlfriend violates any state or local ordinance, you can't claim her though whether the law is currently enforced or not - and believe it or not there are still many places with laws on the books with laws against cohabitation by unmarried couples. Or if one of them made over $3400 gross income for the year, you couldn't claim that person.

Can i still claim my daughter on my taxes. she's 19 and still individual homeschooled and i provided for her.?

can i still get the 1500 fund and other credits or no?

Answers: You can claim her.she is your dependent that you financially take thoroughness of....
If she is 19 you can't claim her as a qualifying child - self homeschooled doesn't qualify as being a full time student, she would own to be in an leader school.

If she didn't hold $3400 or more income for the year, and you provided over half of her support, you can claim her as a qualify relative no matter how infirm she is. That probably wouldn't get you the $300 for a child on the rebate though. Details are still scarce so zilch is sure yet.
My parents claimed me the entire time I be getting my undergraduate degree, you can claim her- as long as she wasn't planning on claiming herself.

Do you have to pay tax on a redudancy package?
