Taxes Questions and Answers

Is at hand a site that will relay me if I qualify for the toll discount passed by bush on Feb. 1st?

I'm reading about the Stimulation Package. I want to know who get it, how much, and when?

Answers: Bush didn't pass it. He wishes to sign it.

Under the compromise bill passed by the Congress, you would be eligible to receive a rebate of up to $600 if you paid that much contained by Federal Income Tax. If you only compensated $350 in taxes (less than the $600 rebate limit), you lone get backbone $350. If you had earn income of at least $3000, you would attain at least the minimum rebate of $300.

While the rebate depends on your 2007 income, it is in truth a rebate toward your 2008 taxes. According to the proposed plan, in 2008, taxes would be cut from 10 percent to not anything percent on the first $6,000 dollars of taxable income for individual taxpayers.

It's like a one time charge cut for 2008, but you get the rebate in a minute instead of waiting to file your 2008 taxes. Because this is an finance payment on your 2008 taxes, your reimbursement next year could be more (or smaller number!) depending on your 2008 income.

Use the calculator below to compute your rebate.
If you paid taxes, and are single and brand name less than $75,000 or are married and cause less than $125,000, you qualify.

It is supposed to be $600 a being, but it may vary.

It is, allegedly, going out surrounded by May if everything goes right.

That's the gist of it. I get those figures from CNN.com.

you will not be liable unless u were the payee

Do you think I'll still get my refund even though I forgot to file taxes last year?

Answers: I didn't file in 1996, but I filed 1996 and 1997 together and I still got a refund. My accountant told me the only disservice I did was to myself because Uncle Sam was able to keep my money for a little longer and make money on my money instead of my doing it myself. I try to always file on time now and if I don't, I always file the extensions. Like someone else said, they may be busy, but they are not dumb.
You FORGOT? Yeah, right!

I would suggest you file last year's return NOW.
File them both at the same time. You were probably owed a refund last year that will be much smaller now (unless you were in Iraq last year like I was)

You can get two checks. If you owed last year, and you file now, they won't keep your return but you will get audited which is NOT NOT NOT fun. You should file both years either way.
Now be a nice guy and file your prior year return.
They might withold that refund if you don't.

see some resources for filing your prior year taxes here. some online resources offer free prior year filing - check them out

The IRS isn't entirely dumb.

If the missing return is a refund amount (based on single, standard deduction), then you will get this year's refund no problemo.

If the missing return appears to be one that owes money, the IRS is supposed to hold the current return until you file the missing one, though theis program hasn't always flagged the missing return within 1 year.
You Forgot.uh huh!..Honey it's always nice to keep the IRS on a first name basis... Don't ya know??
