Do you receive a greater rates break if your child lives next to you?

or is it more if they live with your ex and you wages child support?

Answers: if the child lives with you, you can claim manager of household status if you provide over 1/2 the child's support -- this gets you onto a lower charge chart than single. and the child is your dependent and you may be eligible for various child base tax credits.

child support is not a deductible expense. if your child support truly paid amounts to over 1/2 the total support of the child, next you may claim the child as a dependent, BUT you are not head of a household because of this child.
You can't take off child support.

Under certain circumstances you might be allowed to claim your child even though they don't live next to you. You might get as much of a excise benefit as if they did live with you, or might carry less, depending on circumstances. You won't return with more.
