Taxes Questions and Answers

If my parents are claiming me will I still get a rebate check?

Answers: Your parents claim you, they get $300. You get $0.
How old are you? If you are 17 or younger, they will get a credit for you, but you will not get a check.

If you are 18 or older, but they are still claiming you, I have no idea. Sorry.
Are you employed? Then it is a possibility.

If you don't...I don't see why YOU would get a refund.
No, dependents aren't eligible.

Answers: What you need to do is directory your return through the mail, claiming your daughters as dependents.. the IRS will afterwards send you both junk mail asking for proof of who your daughters live with and who provides their support, which prominently, by what you stated, you will win in claiming them as dependents. Unfortunately, it is newly going to cause a stoppage, but you WILL end up getting your reimbursement, and their father will be the one busted in the come to an end. I can't stand dead whitewash Dads. Good Luck.
You print out the return and mail it contained by.
The estimated processing time will jump from 2 to 6 weeks.

After that the IRS will eventually convey mail to straighten out the duplicate SSNs (DO NOT CALL THE IRS--they'll speak about you to file in print...it is the correct solution to this situation. A fraud report won't do anything.). Your ex will have to compensate them back, beside penalties and interest, and if he claimed EIC will be debarred from that program for 10 years.

Unfortunately, it won't stop him from trying every year, so plan on paper file from now on.
If the childrend did not live beside him for more than half of the charge year he cannot legally claim the. If you file your taxes yourself contact the IRS and they will send you a worksheet to complete to prove they are your qualifing children. If you salaried someone to prepare your taxes they should have this worksheet to bestow you and help you complete it.

You will stipulation something such as doctor or day trouble records near your address showing the children lived with you.
Just as VB said, record the paper return. It is not first come first serve, it is whomever is entitled. You may run into this problem repeatedly: However, if he claimed EIC he will be debarred from claiming it up to 10 years, and if he tries to file claiming it during the excluded period, his return will auto-reject efiling. So you may still know how to efile.
If he has already be reported as being delinquent on his child support, his return will offset to child support, and to you and the girls, so that may be a positive aspect.

PS do not forget to sign your due return!!
Yes there is plainly something you can do. File your return claiming them. You won't be able to efile, and will hold to mail it within, since Mr. Deadbeat has already claimed them. He and you will respectively receive a letter from the IRS describing you that two people claimed duplicate person, and wise saying that whoever didn't have the right to the claim requests to file an amended return dropping the claim - next if nobody does, they'll investigate and decide who get the exemption. The other person will enjoy to pay support whatever he get by making the claim he wasn't entitles to, with interest and possible penalty. And since they live with you, HE will be the one near his claim disallowed, and HE will have to rate money back to the IRS. You will win your refund, although it will steal awhile longer.

The answer would be the same even if he WAS paying child support. You are the parent the kids live next to, so you are the one who can claim them unless there's a valid court order proverb that he can, or you give him written assent stating that you won't claim them.

Good luck.
If he's not the custodial parent and doesn't pay more than partly their support, he's not allowed to claim the exemption for them UNLESS you hold signed a form 8332 giving him permission to do so. If you haven't (and it sure doesn't nouns like you hold!) then do as others hold suggested and send surrounded by your forms via U.S. mail. The IRS will straighten it adjectives out for you.

Does HR Block refund come spur-of-the-moment?

How long does it take to bring back a refund that be e-filed and not direct deposit?

Answers: H&R have no control over how quickly a return will come. Once they efile the return the IRS is contained by control of the return.
E-filed and NOT direct deposit? As in the IRS is sending you a check? That would be 3-4 weeks from the time the IRS accept your return.

If you chose a bank product/Emerald Card it would own been faster.
