Taxes Questions and Answers

Can i really reduce by sale due from groceries and clothes on my taxes?

im really lost about the sale tax presumption. add up receipts or use an amount from a levy table?? I could deduct state income export tax from my W2 also??

Answers: You can either subtract state income tax OR sale tax - not both. Any simple export tax software will figure out which one is better (you don't have to include up all your sale taxes paid, at hand is a formula used). Most likely state income levy is higher unless you bought a coup¨¦ or live in a state next to no state taxes.
For sales duty you can either use your actual due paid, or there's, um, I muse a worksheet you can use to figure out the amount. (I've be letting Turbo Tax do my taxes for FAR too long. LOL.) Most of the time using their rates will fair you better, unless you're buying an extraordinary amount relative to how much you engender.

And you have to itemize to hold tax deduction.

Did anyone who used h+r block simple pay get their tax refund today who was supposed to?

Answers: I was suppose to get mine yesterday. Nothing yet. I've tried calling and looking at their website nothing regarding refunds. It's funny how they advertise these refunds like crazy, but then when you do not get your refund and there is nothing on the website and the wait to call hrbbank is 200min. It really makes you wonder where's your money going. If anyone has any other numbers or website suggestions let me know.
I have not received mine yet either. IRS shows that they deposited my money on the 25th. I know it goes to H&R blocks bank first then to mine but yet to see anything. I called one of their offices to get more details on how it works but the people had no clue. Told me to call H&R blocks bank. Last year had my refund the same day that the IRS sent it to H&R block. Those who got theirs how long after IRS deposited did it take you to get yours?

Is there a new law that requires a w-2 to file a return or will my last check stub still be accepted?

Answers: If you have wages subject to withholding you must wait for your W-2. You cannot file with your paystub. Paystubs sometimes differ from what's on the W-2 and there is often other data on a W-2 that is not on a paystub, such as the employer's FEIN and SEIN as well as the amounts and codes from boxes 7 - 14.

The ONLY exception to this is if an employer fails to give you a W-2 and fails to respond to the IRS inquiry once you have filed a missing W-2 complaint with the IRS. The IRS won't even take those complaints until Feb 15th. Then you have to wait about 2 weeks and contact them again to get authorization to use a substitute form. The IRS recommends at that point that you hold off on using that substitute form until early April in case you eventually receive the W-2.

If you file with the substitute documentation the processing of your return and any refund WILL be delayed significantly while the IRS attempts to verify the information that you claimed using the substitute documentation. The reason for this delay is that the IRS has to wait to see if your employer ever filed a W-2 with Social Security. The government copies of all W-2s are sent to Social Security by the employers and are then forwarded to the IRS by Social Security once they've posted the earnings to your record. The IRS doesn't start seeing the data until sometime in late Summer or early Fall. They won't process your return until they either can verify the information from the copy filed with SSA or are satisfied that none was filed.
You need a W-2. Your tax preparer can use your last pay stub, but will need the W-2 to actually file the return.
