Taxes and Scholarships..Bright Futures?
I'm completely confused on how to report this on my taxes. Last year it worked out and I just narrowly got by short having to owe taxes. I made beneath I think $9,000 from working two job. I got rear legs about impossible to tell apart amount in scholarship total. I know that at least $3500 go toward school fees, books, and tuition. I also hold a pell grant and a Bright Futures award. So I'm wondering which parts are taxable. Is it just what I get back which is probably $3-4000. I know the pell allow is not taxable and what I received back I put into a funds account. So do I call for to count that as taxable income or do I use it for the part roughly speaking interest. Bright Futures is a state scholarship surrounded by Florida as far as I know. So I don't know if that's taxable. I just want to variety sure that I don't have to put adjectives $8-9000 I got surrounded by scholarships on nearby because I know some of it went towards books, etc and some of it isn't taxable. I haven't gotten the quality newspaper from my school all the same but I wanted to procure ahead.Answers: Add up your education expenses (tuition, but NOT books).
Add up your scholarship *and* the Pell Grant (for tax purposes it's treated similar to a scholarship).
The part of the scholarship that paid rotten tuition are tax free.
The member of the scholarships that go to other things like room an board, travel, books, etc *is* taxable.

Will Tax Credits apply to general public who DO NOT own a motor?
I have not owned a motor for the last 1.5 years. I know the ruckus is adjectives about folks who own Hybrids, but aren't there any breaks for folks who do not own a sports car at all?If not, consequently my suspicions are that these tax breaks are another means of access to scam people to buy a different Hybrid just for a stinkin duty break.
Answers: Go to the IRS.gov website and do a search on "toll credit" and actually read the rules.
