Answers: Well, if you file online then you never acquire your money the next afternoon! Here is an IRS efile chart that shows when you can expect a direct deposit depending on what day you folder:http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p2043.pdf

Did you do a refund anticipation loan through a company approaching H & R Block? That may be different and you may capture some money a little quicker but I've never hear of anyone getting it the next morning!

Looks like you won't be getting a direct deposit until Feb 8th if you file today and if are having your compensation mailed to you, it will not be mail until Feb 15.
go to irs.gov and look for a relationship called when will I obtain my refund?

We just placed vinyl siding on our entire home..is this tax deductible?

Answers: No. You cannot generally deduct improvements to your home. However, the money you spend on the improvements can be added to the cost basis of your home. The cost basis is used to figure out the profit (or loss) from the sale of your home (which may be partly or wholly taxable at the time of the sale).
No. However, keep the receipts from all home improvement projects for when you eventually sell the house.

My 17 y.o. worked this past year. If he's my dependent does he file an IRS tax retn?

Answers: yes...he must file a tax return if he has earned income only and his total income is more than $5,150. ...

Earned Income Only
A dependent must file a return if all his or her income is earned income, and the total is more than the amount listed in the following table.

Marital Status Amount
Single
Under 65 and not blind $5,150
Either 65 or older or blind $6,400
65 or older and blind $7,650
Married*
Under 65 and not blind $5,150
Either 65 or older or blind $6,150
65 or older and blind $7,150
*If a dependent's spouse itemizes deductions on a separate return, the dependent must file a return if the dependent has $5 or more of gross income (earned and/or unearned).

Example.

William is 16. His mother claims an exemption for him on her income tax return. He worked part time on weekends during the school year and full time during the summer. He earned $5,600 in wages. He did not have any unearned income.

He must file a tax return because he has earned income only and his total income is more than $5,150. If he were blind, he would not have to file a return because his total income is not more than $6,400.
Yes. If he overpaid (refund) or owes tax based on his taxable earnings. However if he files, he MUST indicate on his return that someone else can claim him as a dependant if you are actually claiming your son on your taxes.

You both should calculate your tax liabilties as your son being a claimed dependant and not as one. File the result that gives you the best result.
If he made $5350 or more, and is a dependent, he is required to file. If he made less than that, but anything was withheld from his pay for federal income tax, he should file to get it refunded to him.
