2008 Tax Relief Amount?

The White House was considering rebate of up to
$800 for individuals
$1,600 for married couples.
Now I have hear a different amount...
$600 for individuals
$1,200 for married couples
$300 per child
Which is it?

Answers: It looks like the plan that have the most bipartisan support (and has the best randomness of getting passed) is:

$600 per individual taxpayer ($1200 if MFJ)
$300 per child.

Additionally, if you paid Social Security taxes, but have no income tax liability, you'll receive $300 per party instead of $600.

Best estimates are that June would be the EARLIEST you would receive your rebate.
$600 for individuals
$1,200 for married couples
$300 per child
MFJ ? Do both parties hold to have income to bring the 1,200.00 ?

What do I do if an employer doesn't have my w-2 ready? Isn't there a deadline so I can file my taxes?

Answers: You were supposed to have *received* the W2 by January 31. However, the IRS asks that you wait until February 15 before reporting it to them.

So, if you still haven't got it on Friday, call the IRS at 8OO-829-1040 and report it!
It has to be postmarked by Jan 31st

** whats with the thumbs down?******
If they don't have it to you by Friday, call the IRS at 1-8OO-TAX-1040 and file a missing W-2 complaint. You should have it within a few days of filing the complaint.

Employers are required to give them to you or place them in the mail by Jan 31st. (Oddly enough the law does NOT require them to be postmarked by then, only placed in the mail.)
Employers are required to send W-2s to employees by Jan. 31 each year. However, the IRS suggests allowing up to two weeks from that date for mailed forms to reach you you can call the irs and tell them and ask them on what to do they may be able to pull up your info
