Which tariff form do i use for my federal return??

My return should be rather elemental...i have a W-2 from one employer beside no other work related income for the year. I have a 1099-INT for an ING nest egg account (only $250 surrounded by interest received), and i have a 1099-DIV (under $300 surrounded by dividends and cap gain dist). I wanted to use a 1040EZ, but i dont suggest i can due to the 1099-DIV? My concern is that if i use a standard 1040, i will not be able to use as big of a standard speculation? Is this true? Single filing with the sole purpose myself as a dependent. Thanks!

Answers: The standard deduction and personal exemption are *still* $8750 whether you record a 1040EZ where it's shown as one lump sum or you wallet a 1040A or 1040 where the numbers are down separately.
The standard deduction and personal exemption are exactly impossible to tell apart regardless of what form you use.

People have a predilection to thing it is bigger next to the EZ because the standard deduction and personal exemption is added together.
Yeah, you're out of luck on using the 1040-EZ because of the dividends form, but if you single had the 1099-INT and it be less than $1500, you would enjoy been OK.

Here's the rule: do you enjoy deductions (such as mortgage interest, property duty payments, charitable contributions, business deductions, etc.) that be more thand $5300? If so, you use form 1040 (AKA the Long Form) to itemize. If not, you use 1040A (AKA the Short Form) and take the standard conjecture of $5,300.

However, if someone else can claim you as a dependent on their taxes, that changes things. Might want to hit IRS.gov if that's the valise.
