I own a question for adjectives those excise experts out at hand?

I am 38 years old and my boyfriend is 40, we are not married. I made smaller quantity than $8,000 last years and he made around $25,000. Some one told him that he could claim me as a dependant if I made smaller number than $8,000. They also told him that I could file on my own as in good health. Can you do this? and is it the best way to progress. Please help!

Answers: The definition of a "dependant" is someone who relies on another character for 50% or more of their support, such as living and medical expenses. So, if you are paying 50% or more of your own bills and expenses, then you cannot be claimed that passageway. And you would need to be extremely guarded about accumulation everything up, because claiming you as a dependent at your age when you two are not married would be a huge red flag for an audit.

It would be much better, in your covering, for both of you to file separately, simply because the recordkeeping required would not be worth the funds your boyfriend would stockpile by claiming you, especially at the income levels you state.
he can as long as he provided over 1/2 of your support .. he will wallet single with you as his dependent which lowers his taxable income by roughly speaking 3400

you can still claim single but also declare you can be claimed on an others return as a dependent... you'll bring back what you remunerated in (box2)

Answers: It already went through and yes it would apply to you, providing you paid federal income tax and earned somewhere between $3K and $75K in 2007. You should get a $600 check in June.
