Recently married. Is it better to database taxes cohesive or separate?
My husband and I married a couple of days ago and are getting ready to wallet our taxes. I have not have my name rightfully changed through Social Security yet. We own a new little one and he is in the military. I own not earned that much this historic year but I was hoping to receive a nice amount spinal column if I claimed our daughter. Would it be better to file unified or separate this year?Answers: You can't file collectively for a year in which you be NOT married. So if you married in 2008, you weren't married within 2007. If you weren't married on 12/31/07, you file Single or Head of Household, depending on when child be born (2007 or 2008). Your choices of filing for 2008 depend on your married status on 12/31/08. You will NOT be able to win one of those expensive RALS (refund anticipation loans) since the baby is a dependent of some one contained by the military. When you're eligible to file MFJ, it's almost other better for you than filing MFS, but you're not even so eligible.
If you got married "a couple of days ago" you be single at the end of 2007 and explicitly how you file except that one of you may be a cranium of household.
You state "We have a current baby and he is within the military." If baby's income is more than $3,400, you can not claim her as a dependent.
Probably separate. You can get the child credit and manager of house hold. I don't think you can profile joint for final year since you were not married within 2007. Laws are changing though nearly couples living together. Check with the IRS. They can support you and it is free, just travel to their IRS web site. I nickname them all the time.
Ps. See how much he would carry compared to you if he claim the child and head of household. Only one of you can claim the child. If he made plentifully more, he may get wager on more money.
if you just get married a couple of days ago that means within Jan 08, right?
you cannot file married
you both be single in 07
depending on your childs birth (2007 or earlier) afterwards only One of you may claim her and will directory Head of Household
next year you can folder married
now be he in a combat zone later year? if so you claim the child and he can claim single
it would benefit you more
married or head of household near dependents if one of you dosnt work
you = 1
wife = 1
total = 2 dependents
kids count as dependents also
dependents count as deductions
if both working record joint
<the one providing files>
If you get married a few days ago then you be not married in the due year which you are filing for so you must respectively file as single. One of you can claim the child and if that creature meets the criteria for manager of household then whichever of you it is should record as head of household.
If you get married before January 1st next married filing joinlty will usually provide the most tax breaks.
I hold to say separately. I recommend you this contact that will be good if you use this calendar to organize adjectives your payments, bills, etc. You can plan ahead month by month. How Does Tax Stimulus Package Work for Food Stamp Recipiants?
Answers: It doesn't. They refused that part.
if you file taxes in 2007 you'll get the "stimulus" money...
it has no other bearing on you or food stamps or ssi or unemployment or welfare
bottom line
got to earn money to get money
Additional food stamp assistance got dropped from the deal. I've heard that checks will go out from $300 to $1200, depending on family situation and income level. High income folks won't get anything.
The details of the deal are supposed to be announced this afternoon, so stay tuned.
They refused to increase food stamp amounts. The rebates will be for individuals who earned less than 85,000 and couples who earned less than 110,000. The key word is "earned". So, you have to have had earned income and paid SS taxes, but not federal income taxes. The rebates for individuals will be 600, couples 1200 and people with children will get up to 300 per child. This is all contingent on it passing.
Sorry. It's a bonus for working people and families that will also have to be claimed as income next year.
as I said in one of your other questions, President Bush wants to increase food stamps. Because of the way congress works, it might not happen though.
How Does Tax Stimulus Package Work for The Mentally ILL<SSI>?
Answers: Basically, it was created by the mentally ill in Washington DC, so I think it would work well for their ilk.
It has only been passed by the house and not the senate, so there will have to be a compromise bill. So far, the house version has a rebate for people with EARNED income (wages), which would not be SSI or SSA. Democrats did want to argue for increased food stamps, but there was no mention that it would be included (and I doubt it). If you worked part time, then you would get a rebate, looks like (so far). The money will not be able to be distributed until July or so, though.
I would say, if you are on straight disability, you will get nothing. That's how it works every time.
