Your employer should reimburse you if you have to use your personal vehicle for work (going from the office to a job site. Going from home to work every morning doesn't count.)
If he doesn't, then you can claim the expense as a deduction on your taxes. Essentially, the mileage you paid for should not have come out of your pocket, and the IRS allows you to reduce your income by that amount (a deduction)

Many those think that like mad more taxes are coming out of their paycheck than there really are. Chances are the W2 is correct and he be only paying social wellbeing and medicare when he was working.
if he one and only worked parttime and made $50 per week gross of something, then he probably did not seize any taxes withheld and won't owe any taxes either if his w-2 profits are less than $5000
