Taxes Questions and Answers

Can my parents Claim me on thier taxes?

I am a sophomore in college. I am 20 years dated. My parents claimed me on their taxes for 2007 and I was wondering if it be legal. I rate for my tuition, rent, food, books, car and everything else on my own. They compensate my car insurance which is 900 dollars a year but to be exact the only item they pay. And they claim me as a dependant so I know that they are probably getting adjectives of that money plus back within their tax reimbursement. I am struggling to pay for college on my own on a waitress earnings and I know that if I claimed myself, I would receive financial aid. I dont receive any aid right now because technically my parents are supposed to contribute over 10,000 to my conservatory work. But they dont contribute a dime. They say the aim they claim me is because, under the armada, I have to be a dependent to recieve medical insurance. Is this legalized? What can I do if if isnt? The only point they do is pay my motor insurance. I even bought the car! So I am a dependent so I can enjoy medical insurance. Help!

Answers: They can't legally claim you if you provided more than 50% of your own support, and given the information you nominated, you do. So no, they can't claim you as a dependent.

If they can't claim you as a dependent, they are right, you can't be on their medical insurance.
yes that is true what she said, you come across all of the test except the support test, so they should not be claiming you. i bet you will hold a hard time explaining that to them, unless the merely reason they claimed you be as you said, so you can have medical insurance

Number of working hours per year if full time salaried in Canada?

Answers: This actually depends on your province, because Employment Standards are provincially mandated.

You can find out the laws for you by entering "employment standards" and your province name in G00GLE.

In most provinces, it is 40 hours per week, but there are exceptions for certain industries.
It really depends on the company too. Some use a 35 hour work week for salaried staff, some 37.5, some 40.

As mentioned, in most provinces 40 hours is the maximum work week before overtime kicks in.

Multiply the weekly hours by 52 to get the yearly figure. 2080 for a 40 hr week.
per year? why do you need to know this? i didn't know there was such a mesure.
