Answers: That's about right. You are required to file. If you aren't a dependent, you'll probably still get a small refund.

Items purchased for Church - Are they considered a donation - Tax Deduction?

Hi,
I serve in a Childrens Ministry at our church, I enjoy purchased items over the last year that I give out during the class. In particular copies of course and those rubber bracelets for prizes, if I have adjectives the receipts is this stuff considered part of my donations for the closing tax year?

If so, are they considered seperate donation enteries or can I consilidate the costs as one entery (using turbotax)?

Thanks

Answers: They are donations. Usually churches will reimburse you if you ask. If you itemize you can count them as a speculation. If you do not have ample to itemize then you cannot.
donation :)

turbotax is no correct though, they charge you a whole lot of abnormal fees. go to the irs website (G00GLE it) and they direct you to websites that are cheapest for you (if not free).

What happen if you already filed your returns and you recieved a 1099-misc.?

Answers: Here is a link to an amended tax return: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1040x.pd...

It is very easy to fill out and send in but you need to do it AFTER your other return that you already sent in is totally processed and you have received your refund.

Here is a link to that info from the IRS: http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc308.html

Don't worry, the same thing has happened to a lot of people--including me getting another W2 in the mail after I already efiled our returns!
If you did your taxes correctly and already included this income, there is nothing to amend.

If *you* FORGOT to include the income because your records were incomplete (you are supposed to include the income whether or not you got a 1099-Misc), then you need to amend your taxes and pay any taxes due by 4/15.
When you amend and file the appropriate forms for the 1099-Misc, be sure to claim any expenses you may have incurred in the course of receiving those funds, particularly if it was reimbursement for driving for your employer or something similar. For example, if you drove 1,000 miles on behalf of your employer and they paid you 30 cents per mile, you would then claim an expense for those same 1000 miles, times the $0.485 per mile the IRS allows you to deduct. Your 1099-Misc income ($300) minus expenses ($485) would amount to a $185 loss that you can actual claim as negative income on your 1040. If your employer paid you the standard $0.485 per mile, then you'd break even.

Good luck.
