Forgot to add on something to already file taxes?
I just file my federal taxes today and realized that I forgot to affix in my 1099G for the state return I received last year (2006 return of $258). I am getting a refund on my federal taxes. Can I lurk until next year's due return and add it contained by then? Do I own to file an amended return? The effect of not accumulation this in is a lattice refund explicitly $75 higher than it should be.Answers: They will probably detain it and let you know, save file an amended subsequent year.
Personally, I think it is bullsh!t that we own to file on state refund! We have already compensated taxes on that money already! It was factor of the gross income of last year.
No, you can't lurk until next year. If it will spawn a difference in your taxes, you will hold to file an amended 2007 return on form 1040X.
Did you itemize ultimate year? If you didn't, you don't have to claim the state return as income so don't own to worry nearly the amendment. But if you itemized and claimed state income tax on your 2006 return, you do own to do the amendment.
