Taxes Questions and Answers

I am a senior citizen and do not file income tax. will i get any stimulus money?

Answers: Did you mean to file under India, or is this supposed to be under US?

Assuming you are in the US, the rules aren't finalized yet, but it's looking like you'll probably have to file a return for 2007 to get the rebate. You can file if you have social security even though you aren't required to, and won't owe any tax. See https://locator.aarp.org/vmis/sites/tax_...
to find a TCE site near you - they'll do your taxes at no charge. Don't pay somebody to do them when you can get them done free. You don't have to be an AARP member to use this service.

Can an employer use white-out on a W2?

I'm pretty sure they cannot be modified. Also, she used it to cover the employer street address- which i need to database! She already gave me my W2 slowly (considering it should be out by 1-31), can i demand a corrected copy by the 15th (i be told they have a 2 week grace extent to get W2's out)?
This is nonetheless another thing that the owners of the restaurant i work at own done to make things difficult- it may nouns petty, but i want to report them if at all possible, please agree to me know if you have any suggestions as to how to do that.

Answers: A W2 beside white out is unacceptable. You should capture a new copy. If they send regrets, when you file your return attach a entry to the W2 notifying the IRS that the corrections be made by your employer who refused to contribute you a corrected copy.
Absolutely NO modifications can be made to a W-2 form - and if there is a "correction" at hand is a box at the top of the form that is checked as such. Was the white out used to cover the employer address merely? Were any boxes altered besides the street address of the employer? And if you were employed nearby shouldn't you know that address??
By law employer must have W-2 forms postmarked (and ultimately mailed) by January 31st.
File your taxes beside a tax professional who will lend a hand you with any W-2 issues you may enjoy with this employer. Good Luck!
Get a cut-throat blade and scrape the white out bad.

Do I have to file taxes if I had $0 income?

Answers: No, but maybe you should file anyway. Depending on your personal situation, you might be eligible for certain tax credits. That's rare, and it usually means you have dependents that are eligible for the child tax credit. It can't hurt to buy something like TurboTax just to find out.
No, there's no point in filing. And none of the credits are available to someone with no income.
