Does mortage interest amount go in 8a or 8b of a 1040a? thanks?
Answers: if you are receiving it, it goes in box 8a of a 1040. mortgage interest received is not tax-free for a 1040 return. If it's mortgage interest that you are paying, there are several places it can go. Schedule A of your 1040 if it's for your personal residence, Schedule C if it's mortgage interest on a business loan, Schedule E if it's mortgage interest on a rental property, and Schedule F if it's mortage interest for a farm.
Take a look at the instructions for Schedule A and see what other deductions you have that can be listed on that form. You might have enough to itemize rather than take the standard deduction.

Can I have a list of phone numbers to all the tax preparers in Santa Ana,CA.?
Answers: The yellow pages, yahoo, G00GLE, etc. will only track those firms who've paid for the advertising service.
irs.gov (tax professionals button, then e-file providers) will get you all the tax preparers who are authorized to file electronically with the IRS. That will not be 100% either but will get you a much larger pool than any single advertising source. Here's the IRS link:

just type in your zip code...
Good luck!
Go for online tax preparer. It doesn't matter where you are.
