Taxes Questions and Answers

W2s and personal income taxes interrogate?

I lived in Ohio for partially of 2007 and I have the W2, very soon I live in MN again (where I've other been) and got the W2 from my current available job.

I normally use software close to TurboTax or the other big one out there (forget the name) to do taxes, but I've never done multiple state taxes. How much different is this? Can I use software for this? If so, would I be paying another $20 or whatnot to dispatch this extra state tax form contained by?

Answers: Yes. Generally you would have to report tax returns for the partial year you lived within each state. Most rates services will charge you the extra, full fee for respectively state you must file.

I lived and worked in 2 different states and need to know how I file taxes?

Answers: We'd need to know which states they are, but, in general, any state in which you work or live (which has a state income tax) will tax the income you earned there or while living there.

There's usually an offset provision so you will not have pay tax on the same earnings in more than one state, but it doesn't always work.
Go to H & R Block - they will help you. You worked in two different states - you must file in both states.

Can i claim EIC on my tax return if i don't have any kids?

Answers: Under some circumstances, yes - you have to be at least age 25 and not over 64, and have earned income, and not make over $12,590 ($14,590 on a joint return).
You might - the requirements for people with no children are you must make less than $12590 if you are single, or $14590 if you are married filing jointly. If you are married filing separate you can't get the credit.
