Taxes Questions and Answers

How long can donations be claimed for on taxes?

I donated a car within 6/2004 and never had a karma to itemize. This year I think I can. Is the vehicle still deductible? What is the limitation on this?

Answers: The single way you can subtract is to refile your 2004 income taxes - and this is the last year you can do a 1040X for 2004.

You can't put it on your 2007 income taxes because the event didn't come to pass in this calendar year.
Normally you can do a 1040x and refile. It is too behind time to refile for 2004

Inland revenue and duty.?

my boyfriend and his ex split in april 2006, they enjoy a child together and since the split she has be claiming child tax credit and working toll credit. my boyfriend has recieved a communiqu¨¦ stating he and his ex owe some money as they have be overpaid, but this money has nought to do with my boyfriend, infact, he be unaware she be claiming any of these benefits from a 'joint account' everything be supposed to have be dealt next to when they split. the letter states it be the tax year 2006 to 2007.
does he enjoy to pay this money? he have called the due office and they are syaing because his moniker is on the records he have to, they can pay partly each but if she plays up and decide not to pay her partly they will both go to court and that it dosnt business if hes paid partly or not.
if he does have to money, is it because they split just after the charge year started? even still, he shouldnt have to because its be a full year.
any information would help. appreciation

Answers: One thing that may backing his case is if the money be paid into a mound account to which he have had no access since the split or ever. If it go into a joint description that he could still access, then it is unlikely the taxmen woudl believe him, though a full set of statements for the time contained by question, showing that he neither compensated in nor withdraw funds might be helpful. I suppose near is no possibility of appealing to his former partner to say that she received adjectives the money and he is not liable? There are some people out near with a conscience.
He should own written to the tax bureau advising them of the breakup when it happen, so that they could correct their records and create sure he was not liable for any errors subsequently. If he did not do this, he will probably be held liable, because as far as the export tax office is concerned he is still unloading the benefits.

1040A and 1040X?

I have only just filed my taxes using 1040A, but couple days latter I received a 1099G (certain government payments) and presently have to amend my return next to the 1040X. But here is the thing after I made edited my return, the latest 1040A still says that I am getting a settlement (not as much as my original 1040A) but the 1040X say that I now owe? why is that?

Answers: It think you already received your refund. You enjoy to mail within the 1040x it cannot be efiled. The IRS may send your return before it get to your 1040x. You have 30 days from the time you amend your federal to distribute in a 540x to your state
Because the 1040X assumes that you will enjoy already gotten your original repayment from your first filing, which you will. So immediately you'll owe back some of it, the difference between the two 1040A's.
