If i received a package in the uk from usa how much is the import duty?
Answers: you won't get an exact answer on this site i'm afraid, not unless someone ordered same goods from same country because as the answer above me said, it depends on the goods and where they're from. the info on above answer is great, but it won't tell you what rates you'll pay exactly. if you ring 01702 366 077 (customs tariff classification helpline) they'll tell you the class the goods fit into and what duty rate it attracts. take nto account vat goes on top at 17.5% and thats it. the parcel service will pay the charges on your behalf and ask you for a reimbursement on delivery. good luck!
It depends on what the item is and what the value is. There is lots of info at this link:

If my daughters father owes child support will if come out of his wife's tariff repayment?
my daughter's father owes child support over 8,000 dollars. If his wife files a tax return will it be compensated with her compensation. He has never file a tax return his undamaged life. Don't know how they record married jointly or married separtly.Answers: If she make all or a significant portion of the money and they folder jointly and she files an injured spouse form, they will not embezzle her tax return for child support. If he have any income, they will still take his portion of the return, but cannot touch hers if she files the injured spouse form. If they report seperately they won't even try to take her return.
if they directory jointly, yes it would come to you.
he have to put in a levy return because tax evasion comes near harsh penalty, or his has a totally good excise accountant who knows how to achieve him a zero compensation and his wife gets it adjectives.
Men need to be responsible and i quality for you as my ex is not currently paying either.
If they directory separately, you will not get the money from her.
HE is responsible for the child; she is not.
If they file joint AND you enjoy an order surrounded by place to take it from his taxes, you should recieve a check.
If they file seperate - which very few couples do because it almost other results in more taxes due-you will NOT win a check from her(she doesn't owe you)
If you don't have an writ in place already, that specifies taking from his taxes, you won't bring it.
If she files as an injured spouse - no - she is not responsible for his past child support...
Since I'm disabled and file no return, (and at poverty level), will I receive one of the rebate checks?
Answers: File a return, anyway, even if you don't "have" to do it.
Who gets a rebate? Most people who pay taxes or earn at least $3,000, including through Social Security or veterans' disability benefits. Singles making more than $75,000 and couples with income topping $150,000, however, will get smaller checks, up to the top limits for any rebate: incomes of $87,000 for individuals and $174,000 for couples.
To get any rebate, you must file a 2007 tax return and have a valid Social Security number. If you already filed your 2007 return, the IRS says you don't need to do anything extra.
Most taxpayers will receive a check of up to $600 for individuals and $1,200 for couples, with an additional $300 for each child.
People earning too little to pay taxes but at least $3,000 — including elderly people whose only income is from Social Security and veterans who live on disability payments — will get $300 if single, or $600 if a couple.
"Some low-income workers and recipients of Social Security, certain veterans’ benefits and certain Railroad Retirement benefits may qualify for economic stimulus payments this year from the federal government.
In most cases, payments will range from $300 to $600 for individuals and $600 to $1200 for joint filers. Taxpayers may receive $300 for each qualifying child.
Most taxpayers do not need to take any extra steps to receive the payment beginning in early May.
But there are some exceptions.
Individuals who might not otherwise be required to file a 2007 tax return will need to file a return this year to receive the stimulus payment. The return must show at least $3,000 in qualifying income.
In other words, low-income workers who had at least $3,000 in earned income in 2007 but do not otherwise earn enough to be required to file a federal tax return need to file a return in order to get the stimulus payment. Likewise, Social Security recipients, veterans and retired railroad workers who might not otherwise need to file a tax return must do so to receive the economic stimulus payment."
Hope this helps, my mom will have to file this year, in order to get the rebate check, where she normally would not.
