Has anyone who used simple pay with H&R Block gotten their money today? I'm still waiting.?
Answers: I'm very frustrated also. In the past H&R Block used HSBC Bank to deposit funds into clients accounts, and it never delayed the deposits by more than a few hours. This year, they have their own, H&R Block Bank. I used the simple pay option as well (big mistake). When I printed out all my copies of my 1040, I noticed that they had changed the bank account and routing number from my own, to theirs. I had a feeling at that point that it was going to delay the transaction. I was right. According to IRS.gov, my refund was deposited on January 25. But, as of today (Jan. 26th) I still have not received my money. I spoke to a couple reps at HR, and they said 1-3 business days. This is complete crap, but there isn't anything I can do at this point, except sit back and wait. They said they are working through the weekend, and it could get deposited at anytime. Don't know how much of that info is true though. I feel swindled, because I got charged an extra convenience fee for this, when I should have just paid the stupid 20 bucks using my debit card. This process has not been a convenience for me. If I EVER use HR again, it sure as hell won't be through the SIMPLE PAY method! If i don't see the money in my account by Wednesday, I am contacting the IRS, and I recommend that you do the same.
01/28/08-Edit: I just called 1-888-482-9288 and went through H&R Block's automated process. I finally got a status on my tax refund. It has been processed by HRB, and I should expect to see my refund in my account in 1-2 days. Alot of stress for what should have been a "simple" process, but I am just glad to know approx. when I will be getting my money.
01/29/08-Edit: Well, I finally got my money. It only took until Tuesday evening. Ridiculous turn around time. To think, I paid $30 MORE(in addition to the $14.00 filing fee) for this 4 day wait, than if I had the paltry paid $14.00 upfront. I definitely learned from this experience. Simple Pay, is not simple at all.

This makes no sense, we shouldn't have to be traking our refunds and the IRS shouldn't bag up any company that witholds people refunds for no reason.
I am in the same boat. For the past 5 years I have used HR Block simple pay and never had a problem. This year all the sudden they are holding the money for "1-3 business days". To me this is a ripoff they never said anything had changed to me until AFTER I complained this morning.
They said the 1-3 days was in the terms of service I electronically signed but all I see is that they cannot guarantee the IRS will send the refund when they say. The thing is I checked the IRS website and the money was sent to them on the 25th. To me this is just a scam by HR Block to hold millions of dollars for a few days in order to make some interest money off of it. You are talking about millions of dollars you can make thousands in interest in a few days with that kind of money.

I paid when I e-filed online using h and r block software and my emerald card and directed the money into my emerald also for direct deposit. They said I would have it no later than today. (they meaning, The Irs and h and r block bank, i received an email from h and r block.)

KIENNE HERNE: received meaning forwarded onto my emerald card by h and r block bank, we already established h and r block received it in their account on my behalf.
Arvell H.: you have an e-mail from hrblock bank saying they have deposited the money on your emerald card but it is not showing

Arvell H.: hrblock bank is the entity you have the issue with do you know how to contact them again and verify the transition time because sometimes it take more than a few days for this to happen, I dont think your money is lost just no activated on your card yet being in the bank and then being placed active to your emerald may just take a little longer.

KIENNE HERNE: according to federal law, banks have no longer than 3 business days to forward funds directly to the clients. H and R block is aware of this, they told me. they acknowledge reciept of funds and verified today was the day funds would be disbursed to my card.

Arvell H.: I found the problem when you paid with your emerald card it was rejected for some reason but the order went through because you have an emerald card and the bank knew this so they are probably deducting the 19.95 first and then depositing the rest sometime today. Will get your money but a little admin dancing had to be done. You will get paid

Moved & haven't received w-2 contained by the messages, but available online...?
I have moved a couple times since I quit a employment and haven't received my w-2 yet. However, the company go paperless and all my checkstubs and w-2's are available online and considered necessary to know if I could print this and submit it legally. Anybody comfortable with this?Answers: That's how we do ours. The Army have the w2s available online, we just print them out and use them to database the taxes. Paperless is the way of the adjectives. No harm within it at all. Go take your taxes done now :)
I printed mine on procession and that's what I submit every year. So, yes it is legal.
What tax year are they going by?
Answers: If you mean the "stimulus" it will be a guestimate based on your 2007 tax return.
They will use the information on the 2007 return to determine if you are married, if your income is in the right range, if you have children, if you have earned income, pay taxes, etc.
If you do not receive an advance check, when you file in 2008 and it is determined that you would have qualified, you'll get the money then with your taxes. (And you'd get to listen to everyone else whine that they "had to pay the check back"--not true as you only get the money once.)
