Taxes Questions and Answers

Taxes: can I write of my dental expenses?

I had a root conduit and a crown put in later year that cost me over a grand. I'm a full time student beside a full time job. I work beside a temp agency so I don't get dental insurance. Can I write this rotten? I was contained by major throbbing and without the dental work wouldn't of be able to dance to school or work.

Answers: A little deferred now, but within the future, if your employer offer a cafeteria plan, you can put money each pay envelope period pre-tax and own it reimbursed to you following a procedure. Of course, this plan is use-it-or-lose-it, so a little foresight is required - don't simply dump hard-earned money into it if you don't anticipate any medical bills in impossible to tell apart tax year. Once your expenses are reimbursed to you, that's it. Uncle Sam doesn't even look at it.
As for this year, you would hold to itemize, and you can only discount expenses above a percentage of your taxable wages.
Best of luck.
Why do you think you should be capable of write it off?

Just because it be a needed dental procedure does not mean the affairs of state should reduce your taxable income for it.

If you hold a full time job, it is unlikely that the $1,000 be enough to reduce by. I think you enjoy to have something like 15% of your earnings within medical expenses.

Of course, you are probably not itemizing ANYWAY, so it is a moot point.
You can only take off it if you itemize, and even then can single deduct the portion of your total medical expenses that's over 7.5% of your in the swing of things gross income. So while the answer technically is maybe, I'd guess that contained by your case it's no.

AS a import tax payer?

I have to hold a job to support my clan, but i must pass a drug experiment to get a brief. Why shouldn't those people who use my knotty earned export tax dollors in welfare enjoy to pass a drug exam before the get hold of any help??

Answers: AMEN! I don't know how the management can justify letting those who do receive welfare find assistance without ratification a test of some sort... Especially since alot of the assistance passed out involves bread that can be spent where ever in need a trace, and also a restriction needs to be placed on EBT cards so they cannot newly trade a $ amount for drugs, liquor, or cigarettes.
AMEN...brother. I think that should categorically be a requirement!
