Answers: You can database now. Unlike W2s, 1099s are not sent contained by with the 1040 unless taxes be withheld.
1099's are to be sent no later than today.

If you own invoices you submitted to him (independent contractor) then you can add your own 1099. If you do not receive a 1099 by Feb. 15 and you were not self billing, you obligation to get profile a notification of non-receipt.

If you have a 401K do you have claim it with your federal tax return?

Answers: You do not have to report the funds you contributed, only any distributions. Your W-2 will mark box 12 (pension plan or retirement plan) if your company has a 401k whether you contributed or not.
Not until you get a distribution from it
or do a rollover.
No, the money comes out of your check PRE-TAX, and is held tax-free until you draw on it at age of at least 63.5 years, if you were to withdraw earlier, they would hit you for taxes, plus a hefty penalty so you would lose about 30% of your money
Yes - if you've drawn on it at all this year. otherwise no
No. There is a notation that has a check mark that you have a retirement plan on your w-2. That will indicate to the IRS that the difference between your wages and your taxable income is different for a reason.
YES! BUT. only if you paid into the 401K this year. Then you actually will get credit toward a refund. My hubby got $250 back this year because he put $3000 into his 401K. If you didn't pay into it this year then it doesn't matter. If you withdrew money from it you will have to claim how much you withdrew and this really hurts ya because you have to pay tax on it plus a penalty if you took it out before retirement age. We did this with a 401K he had from a previous employer (we just cashed it in instead of rolling it over). It should be listed on your W2 how much you paid into the 401K... and if not you can look on your last paystub from 2007.

1099-MISC for a Prize?

I won something quite useful in December 2007. The corporation sent me a 2007 1099-MISC but I hold not yet physically received the item. Am I still obligated to wages taxes on this in 2007 and not 2008?

Answers: While I enjoy never had this come up within my practice, I would report the prize in 2008. There is a standard procedure to use for incorrect 1099s.

I would enter -0- on Line 21, and write "See Attachment" on the row next to it. Write a note explaining the situation and staple it to the back of the return. Hopefully a human will see the memo, but probably no one will at this point.

Of course, you would report the pro of the prize on Line 21 of your 2008 return.

Assuming no one will see your 2007 attachment, within 2009 you will get a epistle from the IRS saying you didn't report the income. At that time refer vertebrae to your attachment, and send a copy of the return to them. That should clear up the business.
well yes, the form is mortal filed beside the irs for 2007, so if you don't claim it, you'll find yourself as the irs's whipping post.
