Taxes Questions and Answers

If my employer doesn't withhold federal or state taxes from my paychecks, is this legitimate?

I've been told that this is "immaculately legal". It is "completely optional" to withhold or not withhold taxes from employees paychecks. I guess my indisputable question here is: If this is legalized, then why do most employer withhold the taxes? And they employees are classified as "employee" and not "independent contractor".

Answers: If you are a salaried or hourly member of staff you must pay taxes out of every paycheck. It might be flexible for your employer to withhold it for you, but the government wishes their cut of your money as soon as it is in your mitt. Only people who are self-employed take a "break" and only enjoy to pay quarterly.
It is NOT court to not collect Social Security and not withhold federal and state income taxes from someone classified as an employee. This is a recent ruse on the division of some employers to avoid paying THEIR partially of Social Security taxes.

The criteria for independent contractors is clearly laid out on the IRS website in Publication 15-A. For clarification of your status, please refer to the following URL.

If your employer is within violation of these criteria for your situation, feel free to contact the IRS suitably.

Answers: It won't matter when you record your 2007 Federal Income Tax (as long as it is before the April 15, 2008 deadline) to receive the proposed import tax rebate.

Under the terms of the adjectives agreement between the White House and Congressional Democrats, individual taxpayers would get up to $600 within rebates, working couples $1,200 and those near children an additional $300 per child below the agreement. Families who make at smallest $3,000 but don't pay taxes would attain $300 rebates.
