Taxes Questions and Answers

With the Economic stimulus import tax rebate checks, what if your import tax liability is $1? Will your rebate single be $1??

I heard you procure your tax liability rear legs, maximum of $300 for single filers...I know if you have no export tax liability (line 46 on 1040 is 0) then you obtain $300 anyways...but what if your liability is tiny, lets utter a buck..Would you get "bumped" up to the $300 approaching the folks with no due liability, or are you stuck with a measly $1 rebate check?? Just wondering, since I saw the article on YAHOO homepage today and it didn't answer that singular scenario.

Answers: It did answer it. You would get $300 for a single filer contained by that case.
The Government isn't going to mess next to a $1 check! You are just anyone silly!

My husband is entitled to claim his daughter on curious years his ex claimed hoh export tax credit is this possible?

we already filed speedy refund and it is kicking it out adage she has already be claimed. ex says she did not claim and did skipper of household and tax credit is she competent to do this and what can we do to get our taxes file and claim this child as we are suppose to for 2007

Answers: Your husband is entitled to claim his daughter if she lives with him over 50% of the year one and only. Her mother must have already claimed him as she is plausible legally entitled to do if his daughter lives near her mother most of the time. The IRS does not recognize adjectives divorce settlements or personal agreements. If someone already claimed her then you cannot. Speak to his attorney if you feel you involve to.
You will need to database a paper return. If you are eligible to claim the child as a dependent (see caution below) do so. The IRS will eventually contact both parties (you and whoever else claimed her) and ask for details. Whoever is determined to unite the requirements will get the conjecture; if the first person file incorrectly they will have to repay.

For the alarm, I get the general idea he is claiming her based on a divorce regulation. Divorce decrees can be used within lieu of Form 8332, but only if they contain the correct wording. The enormous majority do not. If the cutodial parent (for tax purposes, the parent near whom the child lives most of the year) is indeed the person who claimed the child and your divorce bill is not properly worded the custodial parent will most likely prevail.
File printed. Be absolutely unquestionable that the form 8332 is attached to the tax return.

The form 8332 is signed by the mom and give your husband the right to claim the exemption and just the child import tax credit. The mom retains the right to claim HOH, child care and EIC single.

If she (or her preparer) accidentally claimed the exemption and/or child tax credit, she'll hold to amend her return.
