Taxes Questions and Answers

My recent employer got bought out and there is no way to contact them. how can i get my W2's now?

Answers: The new company is required to provide them. If they don't, notify them and consider notifying the IRS - you may have to request an extension if there's a problem. This happened to me with a brokerage firm; it got bought out, and it took several months to get my 1099's straightened out. I went ahead and estimated my taxes (not that it was much, the dividend was under $20), but I wound up filing the return in September. The IRS had to give me two extensions over a $20 dividend!
You should contact the company bought your old employer's company. The buyer is also responsible to report your income to IRS and whatever state you reside. You may also contact IRS to locate what was reported. Your W2 should be coming in the next few days if the old employer had passed that information along to the new buyer.

My mom go to claim taxes and...?

The person doing her taxes said she could not claim my brother because he be 17 years of age, to my understanding aren't you alowed to claim them till they are 18 years of age?

They said because he wasnt a full time student but he is still beneath my moms care so is that right?

Answers: Your mom can claim your brother until he is 19 (24 if he is surrounded by school full time).

If he still lives beside your mom (at least 6 months of closing year), and doesn't provide more than 50% of his own support, she can still claim him.

Tell your mother to find someone competent to do her taxes.
she can claim him as a dependent but she can not get the child excise credit for him, the child tax credit have a cut off age of 17- they are seperate things. you can claim anyone as a dependent as long as you provide more than partly of their living expenses and they are not claimed on anyone else's return, no matter what their age or relationship to you.

Can you claim out-of-pocket dental expenses when file your taxes?

I live in MN and though I own dental insurance, it didn't cover all the work I have done this last year. Can I receive an old invoice from the dentist's bureau and claim them?

Answers: If you itemize deductions you can claim medical payments above and beyond 7.5% of your in tune gross income. For example if your adjusted gross income is $30,000, 7.5% of to be precise $2,250.00. Your medical expenses are $3,000.00. You can claim the difference of the two, which is $750.00. If your medical expenses are under this 7.5%, you can't claim any of them.

I hope this make sense. Good luck.
if you itemize deductions, you can claim and medical and dental bills not covered by insurance; however, if the total is underneath the allowed percentage, then you won't be entitled to claim them.
