Taxes Questions and Answers

Can I be considered a dependent even though I am married?

My family & I are trying to determine whether I can still be claimed for this duty year by my dad. I'm 22, was married surrounded by July, and a full-time student through June. My parents paid for my matrimony and all of my instruction, health, and transportation expenses, so beside my income alone, I meet the requirement for not supporting partly of myself. However, we were wondering whether my income for the year is considered mine alone, or that of myself & my husband.
Any planning? If not an answer, any ideas in the region of where I could find one? My accountant doesn't know.

Answers: this is a difficult cross-examine. there are 4 test you have to slip away. the age test, which you do as long as you are a fulltime student. abode theory test, which means that if you lived next to you parents for more then partly the year, relationship test, you do, but the support check doesn't fit, you will have to look at the qualify relative test, but income is a factor here. So have another look at the support theory test. There is nothing that specifically say that if you are married that will disqualify you. good luck.
No, I don't guess so, Not only are you over 18, you are married, so you are not dependent on your Dad financially.
Your income is your own. If you be not working later you would be dependent on your husband.
This is my opinion anyway.
Since this is a duty question, I would find an accountant next to the answers.
You cannot be a "dependent" for your parents. You can file married (joint) or married file separately.

How long do you own to amend a return?

A friend of mine filed my taxes mutually for my boyfriend and I. We did not want to do this. She left out my 1098 too. Is in that anyway to fix this? If I file a amended return how long will it run to get it hindmost? Will they reject the first return that was e-filed? Will I owe money to the IRS if I report as single next year?

Answers: 8 to 12 weeks.
WHoa, not married and file a joint return?
If you BOTH directory amended returns BEFORE April 15 and pay pay for any wrongfully received refunds, any optional tax due, at hand will be no penalties. A
CT immediately. This is serious fraud, and I urge you to correct it before 4-15. If you receive return from first return--in both your names--hold that. It will take several weeks to obtain the amended return processed, probably 4-6 weeks if you file presently, and 8-12 weeks if you file contained by April.
That person is NOT a friend and they are guilty of rates fraud, too.
What do you mean, she file your taxes jointly? Did she not tell the truth and say you and your boyfriend are married?

Wow. I hope you permit this be a lesson to you about letting other empire do things for you when they don't know what they're doing. You could get surrounded by serious trouble if you don't correct the mis-information your "friend" reported.

You should file a 1040X (amended return) -- but I don't know what will surface to the form that's already been file. You should probably go to www.irs.gov and click on the "contact us" button and speak to a actual human being going on for this situation.

Good luck. And next time, do the taxes yourself, or use a reputable site close to TurboTax or Taxact.
If it's an invalid joint see, whose name be first?

His, then he amends to single.
You profile a new untested return with the teaching credit.

If you already have gotten the repayment back, his return will show that he owed money rear and he must pay it by 4/15 to avoid penalty and interest.

I am assuming you both had satisfactory income to file. If one of you made smaller quantity than $3400, come back and explain to us.

Who is elgible to recieve this $600 export tax credit?

Is it just homeowners?

Answers: It is not a "due credit". It is a "tax rebate".

The House have passed a tax rebate bill currently mortal considered by the Senate.

Under the terms of the House bill, you would be eligible to receive a rebate of up to $600 if you salaried that much in Federal Income Tax. If you lone paid $350 within taxes (less than the $600 rebate limit), you only gain back $350. If you have earned income of at smallest $3000, you would get at lowest the minimum rebate of $300.

While the rebate depends on your 2007 income, it is actually a rebate toward your 2008 taxes. According to the proposed plan, contained by 2008, taxes would be cut from 10 percent to zero percent on the first $6,000 dollars of taxable income for individual taxpayers.

It's resembling a one time tax cut for 2008, but you capture the rebate now instead of waiting to database your 2008 taxes. Because this is an advance transmittal on your 2008 taxes, your refund subsequent year could be more (or less!) depending on your 2008 income.

Nothing have passed Congress yet, so adjectives details are subject to change. Check out the referenced site below for an automated estimate of your rebate.
It's not a "duty credit". It's an extra bonus amount of money (called an "economic stimulus package") that might be given to adjectives taxpayers.

All you have to do to obtain it -- assuming it gets passed by both the House and the Senate -- is to own filed a due return this year. All taxpayers are going to get their money.

Again, that's *IF* it get passed. That hasn't happened nonetheless.
What tax credit? Are you speaking of the TAX REBATE which have not even been approved all the same? No one knows the final info.
