My w-2 wages are different than the wages on my last pay stub. What should I do?
Answers: Does your company have a 125 medical plan? The insurance deductions are taken from your gross earnings before taxes are taken out.
My W2 shows over 5000.00 less than I actually earned. I freaked when it happened the first time.
If it's not the insurance, you better check it out before you file your taxes. You don't want to have to pay for someone else's error!
Contact payroll about the discrepancy. Provide them with a copy (keep the original!) of the paystub and the W-2.
If you don't believe their answer, ask them for a report showing all withholdings for the year.
You don't say what is different, or if it is to your benefit or not. Sometimes mistakes can work out better for you!
Good luck
You should call your accounting since they are the one who handled your W-2.
How do I determine how much income tax I will owe?
Answers: Go to the H&R Block calculator, input your data and get a good estimate of your taxes and refund:
http://www.hrblock.com/taxes/tax_calcula...
Go to IRS.gov and down load the instructions for the 1040 form.
Get Turbo Tax and load it on your computer.
Talk to an older friend who has done their own taxes.
Call the IRS to find someone who will help you for free.
Find an enrolled agent who has passed a test with the IRS.
You fill out a tax return, like the Form 1040. After you figure your income and your deductions you'll eventually get to your "adjusted gross income." Then you use a tax rate or a tax table to figure the tax. The tax rates and tax tables are in the 1040 instruction book, and I'm sure there on the irs web site as well.
How much does H and R block charge to get taxes done?
Answers: I think people are listing rapid refund charges or something. It was only $63 for me and I have a $25 off coupon too. My boss went and Had to pay about $68. I know it depends on what you are getting back and how you are filing(rapid refund and such) but I think its best to call H & R Block and get an estimate, but the answers I am seeing here seem way too high for basic filing if thats what you are asking about.
Too much! Stay away from their rapid refund loans. Find a local enrolled agent who has been tested by the IRS and who e-files your return.
Our office can get direct deposit from the IRS into our clients bank account in 10-14 days with no fees.
I think their basic fee is $75.00 but that is for very simple taxes. I use turbo tax, with which you answer all the questions and then you only have to pay to file your state income tax which is only $20.00.
There is an online option at IRS.com where you can do your taxes for free
They are very expensive, mostly because you are pretty much paying their per hour too by doing your tax.
Why not do your e-filing? Or try trubo tax, it's not that hard.
Goodluck
$125 to $300 and up.
