Tax rebate?

i made $40000 in 2007, my wife does not work at adjectives, how much should i get within tax rebate ?

Answers: Under the compromise bill passed by the Congress, if you directory jointly, you would be eligible to receive a rebate of up to $1200 if you remunerated that much in Federal Income Tax. If you simply paid $750 within taxes (less than the $1200 rebate limit), you only get hold of back $750. since you have earned income of at least possible $3000, you would get at lowest possible the minimum rebate of $300.

While the rebate depends on your 2007 income, it is actually a rebate toward your 2008 taxes. According to the proposed plan, within 2008, taxes would be cut from 10 percent to zero percent on the first $6,000 dollars of taxable income for individual taxpayers.

It's similar to a one time tax cut for 2008, but you win the rebate now instead of waiting to folder your 2008 taxes. Because this is an advance return on your 2008 taxes, your refund subsequent year could be more (or less!) depending on your 2008 income.

Use the calculator below to compute your rebate.

If you dont own kids you will get $1200. $300 per child.

The imbalance about it is that it doesn't issue if your spouce works or not. A single parent will get individual 900 why does anyone think thats generous? At least you enjoy to have made at tiniest $3000 and not more then 75,000.

There's no mimimum for seniors or Vets. Singles carry $600

It would have be fairer and economical just to make a contribution 600 per household and 300 per dependent.
The economic stimulus bundle provides for rebate checks UP TO $600.00 or your "net income levy liability", which ever is lesser.

In other words the rates liability you had for 2007 must be at smallest $600.00 or what you will receive will be what your tax liability be for the year.

To simplify: Will you have compensated at least $600.- contained by taxes to the feds. for the year 2007?,

I assume so, I also assume that you file a pooled return.
If which case if my assumptions are correct, you and your wife as a couple (no children?) will receive $1,200.00
As long as you file a Married Filing Jointly return, and as long as you paid at smallest $1,200 in lattice federal taxes (after all deductions), you will receive $600 for respectively of you for a total of $1,200. Remember your wife gets to spend her partly on herself!!

Answers: The tuition and fees deduction can fall the amount of your income subject to tax by up to $4,000. (So yes, at hand is a $4,000 limit).

It is an adjustment to income rather than a credit. Be sure you gather round the qualifications to pilfer the adjustment before you do so. You any meet the recommendation or you do not. There is no "part" meeting.

Generally, you can claim the tuition and fees speculation if all three of the following requirements are met.

--You recompense qualified education expenses of better education.

--You pay cheque the education expenses for an eligible student.

--The eligible student is yourself, your spouse, or your dependent for whom you claim an exemption on your import tax return.

An "eligible educational institution" is any college, university, vocational institution, or other postsecondary educational institution eligible to involve yourself in in a student aid program administered by the Department of Education.

Student-activity fees and expenses for course-related books, supplies, and equipment are included within qualified education expenses individual if the fees and expenses must be paid to the institution as a condition of enrollment or attendance.

Usually, the individual expenses allowable are the tuition and fees required to attend the institution. Typically books, housing, food, etc. are not allowable deductions.

Do I own to folder an amended state return?

I filed an amended federal return, but none of the change will affect my state return. I live in Ohio. Do I still hold to file an amended state return?

Answers: If you are SURE that nought changes on your state return after you probably don't have to directory.

The IRS will share the information with the state. The state will put the bright information into their computer system & kick out a constraint letter if you do owe more. If you should own filed an amended state return & did not later there could be up to 25% penalty for failure to do so. If you are not SURE after file the amended return. Better sheltered than sorry.
as long as you know for sure it will not effect the state return then near is no need to amend. but I dont see how a tweaking to the federal portion is not going to change the state portion.
