Taxes Questions and Answers

When should I expect to receive my charge bonus?

I know the fed gov't rolled out a rebate/bonus- when will the duty payers receive this? Will it be by check via USPS?

Answers: The House has passed a export tax rebate bill currently being considered by the Senate. If a import tax rebate passes, you will hold to do nothing to seize it. It will come to you automatically in the correspondence.

Nothing has passed Congress however, so all details are subject to cash. Estimates for refund checks band from May to July. Check out the referenced site below for an automated estimate of your rebate.
First of all, the rebate is a proposal with the sole purpose and has not be signed into law!

If and when it does exceed, you will not receive your rebate until June or July since they said it would take 10 weeks to even process the rebate AFTER Congress passed the law.

Yes, they would be mail regular mail base on your 2007 tax return information.
The export tax bonus law have not been passed. The House and Senate enjoy to agree first. It will eventually happen.

Write if you want to urge them to hurry:

The report I've read said it would not be possible to get the checks out until May/June at the earliest even if the tenet was passed right away.
It's call the "economic stimulus plan" and it hasn't even be approved by the Senate yet.

Latest estimate is that, if it pass, checks would be mailed out surrounded by mid-June.
They still haven't passed it yet and it is not expected to until probably the origin of March. You also have to stumble into specific guidelines to receive any money. The government is expecting to start sending out excise rebates by the train of June.

What is the income guideline for the $600 refund, does it go by total income or taxable income?

Answers: It depends on earned income and taxes paid.

Under the compromise bill passed by the Congress, you would be eligible to receive a rebate of up to $600 if you paid that much in Federal Income Tax. If you only paid $350 in taxes (less than the $600 rebate limit), you only get back $350. If you had earned income of at least $3000, you would get at least the minimum rebate of $300.

While the rebate depends on your 2007 income, it is actually a rebate toward your 2008 taxes. According to the proposed plan, in 2008, taxes would be cut from 10 percent to zero percent on the first $6,000 dollars of taxable income for individual taxpayers.

It's like a one time tax cut for 2008, but you get the rebate now instead of waiting to file your 2008 taxes. Because this is an advance payment on your 2008 taxes, your refund next year could be more (or less!) depending on your 2008 income.

Use the calculator below to compute your rebate.
Both.

For the $75K cap, it's AGI.
For the $600 eligibilty it's having to pay at least $600 in tax.
