Taxes Questions and Answers

Suppose I enjoy a flexible spending commentary...?

and I elect $500 for the year. Then I get out of work in February. Can I breed reimbursement claims up to that $500, even though I haven't contributed that much to the account all the same?

Answers: Yes.

You can turn in any claims you've get from 1/1 through midnight of the date you get out of a job. You will be reimbursed up to the $500 you agreed to. The company will (reluctantly) absorb the loss.

The trick is, you MUST incur the expense up to that time you get out of work.

TAX oblige PLEASE! Head of Household request for information?

Can my boyfriend use one of my children as a qualifying child for pave the way of household even though we're not married? We lived together the entire year of 2007 and bought a house in April, the house is surrounded by his name and since I be unemployed over the summer he prominently paid for over partly of the household expenses. I'm not sure what to do...I already filed my taxes as a single.

Answers: If your income be more than $3400, he is out of luck. If you can't be claimed as a dependent, then your qualify child are STILL YOURS. Since they are yours, he can't claim them as either qualify child (they aren't related to him by blood or marriage) or as qualifying relatives (because they are your qualify children).

Even if you made less than $3400 and he met the other test to claim you and the children as dependents, none of you is related by blood or marriage, so none of you qualify him for HOH status. Or child supervision, or child tax credit or EIC.
If your children are not his biological children, after no he can't use one of them to file as skipper of household even if he could claim them as dependents, which he can't since they are your qualifying children so he can't claim them.

When you receive unemployment do they give you a W2 for taxes?

Answers: In New York they do it as a 1099 form, similar to a W-2
It's a 1099-G, not a W-2, but it serves the same purpose for your taxes - shows the amount of income and the amount withheld if any.
