Taxes Questions and Answers

As a afternoon trader within 2007, is here any approach to take off more than $3,000?

In 2007 I was a afternoon trader (new to the game) and lost over $50,000. Is there any channel I can get vertebrae any tax monies greater than $3,000? I dont own any other sources of income and am a student in institution.

Answers: Even if you were a daytrader (possible, but doubtful), if you didn't net the mark-to-market election by 4/15/2007, it's too postponed to do it retroactively.

Publication 550 clearly states that you list the transactions on calendar D and live with the carryforward.

(Just pray you procure a really good year contained by the future so you can suck up abundantly of the gains in need waiting 17+ years to get it wager on. If you have no other income this year, you'll pass the full $50,000 forward.)
Sorry about your loss. Better to swot when you're young, though.

You can singular deduct $3000 this year, but the other $47,000 you can transport over to 2008, to either correct gains here, or take another $3000 conjecture, and so on, until it's all gone.

When you start earn money later, unluckily, the carried loss can only thwart capital gain, not your earned income.
It MIGHT be possible if you are considered a "Trader contained by Securities" by the IRS. The rules are complex and I'd strongly urge professional assistance. See IRS Tax Topic 429 http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc429.html and consult with a local expert -- a CPA or EA who specialized within this area of export tax law. This is NOT a career for the storefront tax prep mills!

Tax press - just answer if you know for sure?

In past years I other filed as skipper of household and claimed both of my kids. my man filed single. powerfully this year i want to claim one kid and have him claim the other to return with more money back. he can't claim both because he is one and only the father of one. i'm not sure how to go give or take a few it though -should one of use file as lead of household and claim one and the other claim single and one kid? he makes the most money. how should we respectively file? appreciation you!

Answers: if youre married you shouldn't do that. But if he is just your boyfriend and you don't live together both wallet as HOH but I dont think 2 population can claim HOH of one house. I think you should claim HOH and procure EIC you will get more money that agency. Anyway you can go to turbotax.com and check both ways to see who get the most money it doesnt file until you press wallet and you can change anything you want. Hope this help you
your not going to get any more by splitting up the kids.
you should claim both as cranium of household since you make smaller number.
Are you married..

If so, you can only folder married filing reciprocal or married filing separate.

if.do you live together?

If you are the true head of household lived alone and sole provider for 2 kids you should again profile that way..it is the lowest rate..

Figure it both ways to see which is better, but you cannot record head of household if you are married to him!
exactly that course. Your right.
Only one person can be come first of household though. If your married, you should be filing together. Either approach, you will be getting the same amount. It would vary if you had 3 children. 3 child is levy credit only. first 2 give support to with taxes. My nouns is an accountant.
Just keep them both...it will come out to impossible to tell apart thing anyway.
You can claim one child and he can claim the child i.e. his child. If you live together, only one of you can record as head of household. That should be the personality who pays more of the expenses.

Work your taxes both ways and see. It may be possible to get more money doing what you suggest, or not. If depends on your incomes.
Boy oh' boy!

I'd suggest you don't try preparing this yourself. See a duty professional, I can already see some "red flags" based on your previous filing history!
Be enormously careful next to your filing status.

Assuming you plan to do your own taxes, I'd place a christen to the IRS and document who you talk near, the date, the time, your specific question, and their answer. Armed near this, your are much less credible to incur any financial penalties for a mistake.

If you are living as a married couple (I did NOT say aloud married), then neither of you qualify to profile as head of household. If you keep up two separate households, then at tiniest one of you probably qualifies to directory as head of household. Legal custody collectively determines who can claim the child as a dependent but specific stipulations in divorce settlements can modify this. The totting up of SSNs for dependents makes tracking of this highly easy - and it is tracked. Make sure you comply beside any and all legitimate stipulations for claiming dependents.

Being a blood relative is not necessarily part of the dependency trial - paying more than 50% of the day to hours of daylight living costs of a dependent is.

Having said all that, if at lowest possible one of the children used to qualify for filing as principal of household is actually a contestant of your guy's separate household and he meets adjectives the dependent requirements listed, after that qualifies him as director of household. Same goes for you.
NO NO NO, you claim both kids, you will bring the EIC credit. you will get more,

Answers: You can timely correct a mistake of this kind short penalty if you directory your amended return (Form 1040X) before April 15, 2008.

Wait until your return is processed (but not later than April 15) to amend your return and take-home pay the additional amount due.
Yes, and manufacture sure you wait until you take that refund up to that time you amend. However, if amending will make you owe taxes engineer sure you save satisfactory from your refund that you carry!
