Is there a way to file my taxes via e-file that I dont have to pay a service like turbo tax to do for me?
Answers: Try irs.gov to see if you fit their requirements.
Some communities also offer free filing services.
I've used a free program from taxact.com to calculate my taxes for several years. It's supposed to efile, but I got an error message last year. It did print out all the forms and schedules for mailing though. My taxes are fairly complicated - investments and self employment income. A little tough to navigate at first - but the price is right and the results were the same as my CPA the first year. After that I did it myself.
Yes...but Low Income guys.
1. Goto www.irs.gov and search for e-file. If your Income is less then you are eligible.
2. There will be few volunteers that do the taxes for lo income guys..
If you are rich, no way except using turbotax etc..
www.irs.gov...if you make under a certain amount-I think it's AGI under$54,000 they give you the option to select from a list of FREE tax preparers-coincidentally-Turbo is one of them. I used turbo for myself and my daughter also and it was FREE!Weeeeee!
I received an incorrect 1099 form (in my favor) as a subcontractor, do I directory as is?
I am no longer working with this company and don't know if I should contact them more or less the error or let things be - They are past its sell-by date about 16K for the year. If they one and only reported to the IRS that I earned the poorer amount, is it going to be found out later?Answers: The permitted answer would be to report your actual amount...
That being said, probability are they have the wrong numeral and won't catch it. But they could. You may return with an amended 1099... The safe play would be to report your actual amount.
If you are thinking roughly reporting the wrong about, I would profile an extension, which is good until Oct 15th, and continue to see if they send an amended 1099. If they don't, later fire away with the wrong amount!
as a appendage of a family fullof contractors.
Trust me.. File the right amount..
IRS other finds the tiniest bread crumbs.. they'll go to the crucial company first then to you ..
And tolerate me tell you those interests and penalty add up by the thousands contained by a matter of months,..
why risk it.
Do I claim my child's summer post income when file taxes?
My child worked part time during the summer and made approximately $600 ( that she kept for herself). Do I claim this as income? I be told if it was smaller amount than $1500 it would not have to be claimed. I merely want to make sure.Answers: No you would not claim that as income on your taxes.
If she get a W2 that shows taxes were withheld from her paychecks afterwards she should file her own taxes, so she can capture a refund.
No you don't, and since it be earned income not investment income, you wouldn't claim it on your return anyway. If the amount have been over $5350, next SHE would have to profile her own tax return.
