Head of household receive earn income toll credit?

If filing organizer of household in taxes, is the earn income tax credit eligible for HOH? what is the maximum amount? And is that amount figure by gross or net wages? I did look on the gov website but it wasnt clear and I didnt see a mention of the EIC for HOH. gratitude for any help.

Answers: Filing as Head of Household and claiming the EIC are two separate and distinct isues. It's possible to database as HoH but not be eligible for the EIC and it is also possible to claim the EIC without file as HoH.

You generally can folder as HoH if you are unmarried or are "considered unmarried" AND you paid more than partially of the cost of maintaining a household AND a qualify person lived surrounded by that household for more than half of the year. A qualify person can be your dependent child or other guaranteed close blood or family relatives. If the qualify person is your parent they do not enjoy to live in the household next to you.

The EIC is payable to anyone whose filing status is anything except Married Filing Separately and who meets the other diploma. The rules are too complex to go into here contained by their entirety but you can collect it if your income is within unmistaken limits. If you don't hold a qualifying child or children you must be between the ages of 25 and 64. If you own a qualifying child or children within are no age requriements.

The EIC is based upon you EARNED INCOME merely. Other types of income are not eligible and if you have more than $2,900 contained by investment income you are ineligible for the EIC.

See IRS Pub 501 for full details on filing as Head of Household and IRS Pub 596 for full details on claiming the EIC. Both are available on the IRS website.
If you look at the EIC table, you'll see HOH at the top of the column that also includes single. If you come together the other requirements for getting EIC, filing as HOH doesn't cash that you are eligible.
