Answers: State income tax discount. If you itemized your deductions within 2006, it is income in 2007. If you did not itemize, slight it.

Do I own to profile taxes if I am exempt, a work-study student, and still dependent on my parents?

I have a work-study position with my university (UCLA) and I applied for the post as exempt. I am confused as to whether or not I have to directory taxes. I have never file taxes before and my mother and I are not sure what to do.
1) If I do folder takes will I be considered independent? I am still dependant on my mother and I do not want this to affect my financial aid.
2) I have a previous job within which I was not exempt. Do I requirement to file taxes for this situation?
3) If I were independent of my parents would I receive smaller number financial aid?
4) Would it be better to have my mother folder my taxes along with hers?
Thank you VERY much contained by advanced!

Answers: If you made any money in which taxes be taken out by the federal government, afterwards you need to claim them. If you bring a W2 from an employer, you need to report taxes.

So, in a word, YES!

You are considered a depedent according to financial aid until a positive age - I think 22 or something...check it out. Its age, not money.

If you be independent of your parents, your financial aid would be based ONLY on your income. The smaller number you make the more you procure in loans and grant, etc...but like I said, its base on your age.

You have to record your taxes separately of your mom -you aren't married to her...but she can certainly do them for you. My mom did mine for years.
Yes you enjoy to file to show/prove you did not form enough to owe taxes.
People acquire confused with file and paying taxes-it does not mean alike thing.

I already filed my taxes, but I just recieved a 1098T from my school, what should I do?

Answers: File a Form 1040X, amending your earlier tax return.
You should not jump the gun next year. You are going to cause needless headaches for people trying to get other peoples tax refunds out.
