Tax question-please answer if you know what you are discussion give or take a few.?
My sister and I live together. She does not work and draws disability. Her son (my nephew) is handicapped and also draws a check. I have a son of my own that I claim, as very well as my nephew. I do not claim my sister. I work and pay daycare for my son while my sister stays home beside my nephew. Howcome on my tax return single my son is listed as a dependent while he and my nephew are scheduled under EIC? Is this because I do not settle up daycare for my nephew or did I do something wrong on my return? Is he considered just a qualify child and not a dependent?Answers: It is very possible to own a child qualify you for EIC without person your dependent. Ask your tax professional the reasoning at the back this.
If you did this return yourself the problem is that you did it yourself. Once more you have proven the ONLY statement in the region of tax returns explicitly ALWAYS true:
"If a taxpayer or an unqualified professional tries to prepare a tax return beside children on it they will ALWAYS prepare it incorrectly."
Even if I gave you the remarkably simple answer to this one question within are other areas that you may have erred.
Engage a competent export tax professional. You will get process more value than it costs.
Depending on how much disability income your sister and her child receive you probably cannot claim any of them as dependants. You must have done something wrong on your import tax forms. You cannot claim your nephew under EIC if you do not claim him as a dependant. EIC have nothing to do near day effort expenses that is a unbroken seperate tax form.
