Individual Tax write off's, salaried collection debts?

If one has settled ( next to the collection agency, and has the epistle stating no further responsibility to the account) an unsecured debt that went to collections, can that be written sour on a tax return?


Answers: It sounds similar to you are the one receiving nouns. The creditor can write off the statement if he uses accrual accounting for revenue, but otherwise it's not deductible. Forgiveness of debt is income.
No. Quite the opposite.

If any of the debt be for given, you may have to report it as "income" surrounded by the year of the forgiveness.
Generally no. This is just a substitute for not paying the inventive bills.

The exception may be medical bills that were finally rewarded to the original creditors.

Can an International Student Claim Taxes?

I am an International Student and I've been acceptance scholarships , for tuition and medical insurance purposes, from the United States... Can I claim Taxes on that even though I'm ruined?


Answers: If your scholarships are used for more than tuition close to room and board, that portion is taxable. If the amount that is taxable is more than $3400, later you have a file requirement because you could OWE taxes.

At best you do not need to report; at worst, you owe.
