Taxes Questions and Answers

How long does it appropriate to achieve the remaining amount of your income tariff compensation check?

If I owe $520.00 to a defaulted student loan ( I am cretin that is to say the full amount to be off set) and I am expecting a reimbursement check of around $3000.00 how long does it take to gain the remaining $2480.00? How does that work? Does it make a difference if I do the Rapid Refund?

Answers: Dont do a speedy refund...this will convey up a red flag and continue to bottleneck your refund...once your settlement is offset the remaining will be sent to you 2-3 weeks...so freshly add 2-3 weeks on to the average processing time (2-3 weeks)...

My ex claims our child every other year. What will determine who recieves the $300 tax rebate check?

Answers: I agree with Debbie above. It would seem reasonable, this being an unusual, one time thing. However, the way you file your 2007 return will determine who gets the extra rebate.

Hope this helps, good luck with your share
Can you guys not even be civil enough to split the check in half?

TX Mom
What 300 tax rebate? it hasnt passed yet. This is why the gov. keeps money issues away from the public until right before it happens.

Im 18 and i work full time can my mom still claim me on her taxes?

Answers: If you lived in her home for over 6 months in 2007 and did not provide more than half of your OWN support then she may claim you as a dependent and you may not claim your personal exemption. Even if she does not claim you, you still lose your exemption.
who covers more of your living expenses, you or her?

I believe that is the criteria.

But if she claims you, you cannot claim yourself, and vice versa. You can only be claimed once.
If you lived with her for over half the year, and you didn't provide over half of your own support, then yes she can claim you.
