Deducting Moving Expenses?

OK, here's the deal. I took a commission last year (2007) which is 83 miles away from our current home. We plan on moving closer this year (for explicit reasons). Since the job start be last year and the move is this year, can I still purloin moving expenses off my 2008 taxes?

Answers: If the new opening was at smallest 50 miles further away than your previous job, afterwards you can take the moving expenses presumption.

So, if your previous commute was 33 mile or smaller amount, then travel ahead and take it.

City proceeds import tax ask?

I live (but do not work) in a city that charges a 1% yield tax on its residents. I moved to this city from out-of-state within August. I earned money prior to my move from my outmoded job. My quiz is, will I need to earnings the city earnings due on the money I earned closing year (for 8 months) prior to my moving to this city, or will I just reward earnings export tax on the money earned while living surrounded by the new city?

I did not own property within either of these cities; I rented.

Answers: You single owe tax money on the income earn in the city.

Your prior income would singular be taxable to your prior location (if they have an income tax).
