2008 W4 assist: Can we claim child as dependent? Incase of 2-earners Can both claim child charge credit?
Hello,I am lil confused while filling W4. I have a baby final year. But didn't change my W4 that time. Now, I want to convey new W4 to employer.
We both work. Can we both claim our child as dependent contained by our W4? And, can we claim "Child Tax Credit" (line G in W4) also?
I also jam-packed out two-earners worksheet. I never used this worksheet before. Should we both use this worksheet? or one of us is OK?
Thanks within advance for any oblige.
Answers: You should both fill out the two-earner worksheet to avoid have too little tax withheld. If you both claim your child as a dependent and both claim the "Child Tax Credit", you also may enjoy too little withheld.
First, try to estimate your tax liability for subsequent year. Go to the H&R Block tax estimator, imbue out your info, and get a pretty apposite estimate of your taxes.

Now divide your estimated tax liability by 52 to see how much should be withheld on a weekly spring. Look at your two pay stubs and add on the amount that is currently person withheld for taxes. If it is too little, increase your withholding exemptions. If it too much, decrease your withholding exemptions.
