Taxes Questions and Answers

How do I reimburse taxes and report income from extra check payments received from my work?

My job is full-time and involves department and clerical work. A couple years ago, after the other employee vanished the company in 2006, my employer established to have me rob on that person's job while STILL performing my current chore. Therefore, I am doing the work of TWO people! My employer give me a raise, because I am doing the work of two relatives. But, instead of increasing the rate on my usual paycheck which automatically deducted by federal and state taxes, my employer simply give me an extra check once a month in totting up to my usual paychecks that already have federal and state export tax deductions.

But if those extra checks do not hold federal and state deductions, how do I repay taxes on them and how would they be reported? Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Answers: It depends if he gives you a 1099 misc as nonemployee contribution or add it to your W2.

If he puts it as nonemployee contribution on a 1099 misc you have to wallet a schedule C and reimburse self employment tax on it.

If he add it to your W2 and he hasn't been taking taxes out you will probably owe money.

If you are still considered an member of staff when doing the second job he should be paying taxes on you and deduct them from your paycheck. If you are working as an indenpendent contractor and not an employee afterwards you should receive a 1099 misc.

If you have to report the Schedule C try to take as several of the deductions nominated on the form to reduce your taxable income
