Taxes Questions and Answers

Why do I owe the state of AL $16?!?

I just did my taxes online for free, and it is wise saying that I owe the state of AL $16. I only made $18,000 closing year. Why would I owe? I live in Birmingham and I added local and county taxes to my form. Should I?

Answers: The simple answer is that your withholding be not more than what your actual tax liability is.

$16 is no big do business and means that your paycheck withholding is nearly best. If you are paid weekly, next you have underwithheld by $0.31 a week.

Either transmute your W-4 or don't worry just about it.

Either way you hold to pay it or it will conclusion up costing your twice the $16 or more.
Well, in Illinois you would owe because we enjoy a flat fee of 3%.

So what status can I wallet as?

I'm using taxact. I married in October, so I'm NOT single. She doesn't enjoy a social security card so the software is giving a "red light" alert for the married status. I don't own a child, so I can't do Head of Household. Then how should I file!?

Answers: yo uwould enjoy to request a temporary ID number, you can go to any toll office and find one

i hope i dont cause offense, but if she be illegal, or is or doesn`t matter what, you dont have to verbs because the irs does not work with immigration and will not report her.
If she have just lost her card she only just needs to database for another one then you can do your taxes.

Accounting interrogate... relief!?

If you sold goods within 2006 and sent the invoices; but, got rewarded in 2007, should I avow this on my 2006 ITR or 2007 ITR revenue? please help... am stuck!

Answers: Well, it depends on whether you use a lolly basis system or an accrual proof system.

If you are using accrual accounting method it should be classified as revenue on your financial statements (and your 2006 ITR) as in this method income is counted when it is earn (when you made the sale and you sent out the invoice) and not when you receive the money.

If you are using currency accounting method you will record revenue when you receive the money, which wouldn't own been until this year, so you will register in on your 2007 ITR.
it depends on your accounting end, accrual or cash groundwork.
If you are on accrual base, it should be within 2006.
If on cash podium, it should be in 2007.
For sale, if you are an accrual basis business the answer would be 2006. If you are a lolly basis business the answer would be 2007.

In any case, if inventories are a significant fragment of your business you must use the accrual basis for COGS.
Depends on whether you're on accrual or brass basis accounting:

Accrual, invoice contained by 2006 w/ accrual invoice = revenue. The receipt of pay in 2007 would be reflect on the balance sheet (decrease within accts/receivable) and on the statement of cash flows.

If you're on currency basis your revenue would be recoginzed when the money is surrounded by your hand, or within 2007
