Foreign exchange student?

A friend has have a foreign exchange student since August. Can any type of deduction be taken on income duty?

Answers: Probably not.

I'm guessing this student pays their own tuition and living expenses.

Good luck.

The IRS deposited my duty compensation twice.?

Who do I call first, my sandbank or the IRS? Could it be a bank error?

Answers: If you have a double deposit, you should notify your financial institution. If, in reality, the deposit was received by the financial institution twice, you probably don't stipulation to do anything else. They'll catch it, and they'll reverse the transaction surrounded by a matter of days.
Bank first...consequently IRS. The bank may own doubled the deposit. If they say that it be the IRS that did it...then ring up them.

Just dont spend it. This happens sometimes to individuals in the military. They will return with too much money on their deposit and not notice. Then they will spend the money. So the govt comes and take it back lacking telling them.

Good luck beside this one.

Can you grasp one-half of excise repayment from the excise years of 2001 and 2002 from ex-spouse?

I am asking this question for a co-worker. If the couple record joint returns, divorced contained by 2002, and the ex-spouse forged signatures on 2001 and 2002 tax returns -- later, deposited entire tax refund into their account . Can the other f¨ēte get their one-half import tax refund pay for? The IRS said that they are not responsible for divorce tax issues. Thank you.

Answers: Yes, the soul can try to recover those funds, but not from the IRS. This is not an IRS issue, it's an issue between the two party. The injured party (your coworker) should look at going after the ex for fraud/theft/misrepresentation. The option depend largely on the state he/she lives in, but he/she could ultimately wallet suit to try and recover the funds.
This be a long time ago. I think it would be difficult to do this. Also, if you hire a attorney to help, it would probably cost more within legal fees than the significance of the refund.

Also, how would you prove anything? Even if the signature be forged, her ex could just articulate that she told me to sign for her. Also, the judge would want to know why this issue wasn't brought up years ago.

Life isn't impartial.

Good luck.
This is a situtation of fraud and your friend can contact the IRS and let them know that her signature be forged. This will create an audit of those two years and subsequently will get her money put money on to her. But, she needs to bear care of this NOW...not skulk any longer.
