Why does the IRS screw inhabitants?

my dad used $15.000 to buy a pickup truck - now the irs wishes $7.000

TALK ABOUT A SCREW JOB

Answers: The IRS doesn't screw anyone without their express consent.

There is no Federal toll levied directly on the buyer of a motor vehicle. Buying a truck did NOT create a $7,000 Federal due debt!

If your Dad spent $15,000 on a truck when he was supposed to wages a $7,000 tax bill, he screwed himself. He should enjoy paid the toll bill and bought an $8,000 truck or put down $8,000 on a $15,000 one and taken out a loan for the balance.

Edit: Well afterwards, you have your answer. He have taxable income that he did not report. Dsitributons from the Thrift Savings Plan are taxable as ordinary income and are subject to an extramural 10% penalty import tax if he's under age 59 1/2. The reality that he may have worked at Groom Lake or one of the other classified locations is irrelevant, as is anything classified project that he worked on. (I'll skip on the fact that you don't know what that be since if he told you he could go to prison for 20 years or longer.)

That have nothing to do beside the purchase of the truck. If he chose to not report the income and pay the taxes on it, afterwards he DID screw himself!
Sounds like your dad screwed himself.

my friend sent to me an laptop to study in uk from usa,but do i inevitability to pay that vat when i'd already remunerated usa vat? if wouldn't, how can ia claim. thanks you adjectives very much

Answers: USA doesnt enjoy a vat.
If you have already rewarded that in USA or it be included somewhere in the price afterwards you shouldn't need to retribution it again.

I wouldn't worry too much. Its zilch P&P if sending overseas
Put quite simply, you are import an item of value into the UK and as a consequence UK VAT is payable at the time of import.

There are minor factor which will come into consideration such as what is the declared value for Customs purposes and have your friend recovered USA sales export tax at the time of export?
Also, why on earth introduction a USA laptop into the UK? The electricity is a different voltage and the cycles are different, necessitating a transformer and reducing deeds.
It would be much better to send you money for you to buy a European configured laptop contained by the first place.
