I have need of some clarification in connection with import tax exemption on FD?
Say, I deposit 1Lakh under excise shield FD in any hill for a period of 5 yrs. Can i avail import tax exemption on the deposit for all 5 yrs? or is it merely for the year when i open a FD explanation?Answers: ONCE YOU HAVE DEPOSITED THE MONEY IN BANK IN THAT YEAR ONLY U WILL GET EXEMPTION. 5 YEARS IS THE LOCK-IN-PERIOD WHICH MEANS YOU CANNOT WITHDRAW THAT MONEY BEFORE THAT PERIOD. IF U WITHDRAW YOUR TAX EXEMPTION WILL BE WITHDRAWN N YOU WILL BE ALSO TAXED IN THE YEAR OF WITHDRAWAL.
