Taxes Questions and Answers

I recived 1099- G form .. statement of tax overpayment.. what is that & what am i to do with it ? help?

Answers: Spoke is correct.

You received this because you received a State tax refund from a previous year. If you itemized last year, the State tax refund amount reflected on the 1099-G will be taxable on Line 10. If you did not itemize last year, it is not taxable
Form 1040, line 10 with instructions beginning on page 20

avail on web from irs.gov if you need them.
Was this for a refund of state tax from last year's state return?

If you itemized last year on your federal return and deducted state income tax, you have to file a form 1040 and claim the 1099-G amount on line 10. If you didn't itemize last year on your federal return, or itemized but deducted sales tax instead of state income tax, then you don't do anything with the 1099-G.

Question roughly speaking the charge rebate?

I know most of the details of the senate's plane, which was passed today, but I be wondering if I made more than 10,000 last year, but my mother claimed me as a dependent would I qualify for a rebate? I hold filed this year as independent. Please tolerate me know how you came nearly your info?

Answers: Regardless of whether you are claimed as a dependent, under the Congressional compromise bill, you would be eligible to receive a rebate of up to $600 if you compensated that much in Federal Income Tax. If you single paid $350 within taxes (less than the $600 rebate limit), you only get hold of back $350. Since you have earned income of at lowest $3000, you would get at least possible the minimum rebate of $300.

While the rebate depends on your 2007 income, it is actually a rebate toward your 2008 taxes. According to the proposed plan, contained by 2008, taxes would be cut from 10 percent to zero percent on the first $6,000 dollars of taxable income for individual taxpayers.

It's similar to a one time tax cut for 2008, but you obtain the rebate now instead of waiting to record your 2008 taxes. Because this is an advance wage on your 2008 taxes, your refund subsequent year could be more (or less!) depending on your 2008 income.
Its base off the returns you're satisfying NOW (for 2007 income). So if you just file a return as an indpendant, you get it.

Issues near the where's my repayment site?

On occasion when I walk to the where's my refund site to check the status, my ssn doesnt "work" so I use my husbands. Then, the subsequent morning, mine works again. Now, neither my husband's nor my ssn comes up with anything. It is describing me I have made a mistake entering information. Anyone else enjoy this problem or know what causes it?

Answers: It will do that if you save checking it too many times! It go into a default mode (even an IRS agent confirmed this) and it will show up as not even have processed your return.

I would not check it more than once or twice a day. Many associates like to check it every hour thinking somehow it will update and to be precise when the system decides not to show your concrete status!

The IRS only updates the status page on Wednesdays, so don't expect it to switch between now and subsequent Wed! Usually the Wed before you are getting a direct deposit on Friday, it will update and confer you the exact date.so don't count on hearing anything any sooner.sorry!
